  • Obama Plays the Race Card, Finally!

This comment was originally posted on The Huffington Post. Barack Obama has pointed out he looks nothing like the pictures of presidents on our money. Strong reaction to this from McCain, that Obama had ‘played the race card’, all followed up with some fairly specious explanations from the Obama camp. “No, no. He wasn’t talking about being black, No, no, no!”

    - - - - -

    OK, kids, can we talk?

First let's be honest, Barack DID play the race card! In the sense that he raised the perfectly reasonable point of view that honestly notices that a black man has NEVER in history even been considered for this office, let alone being put on our money.

Noticing this fact though, is informative and provocative rather than being "divisive, negative, shameful and wrong," as McCain campaign manager Rick Davis says.

It is honest and open to engage the obvious fact that race is an integral part of the American mindset and experience. It is attempting NOT to play the race card, which is to say, attempting to ignore the facts of race in America that causes so much regretful ignorance in our engagement of each other.

Well, this has just been plain silliness, so we look forward to a frank and open airing of ALL the issues of race in America, and the world, for that matter. Don't be faint of heart! There is much to discuss!

But also, dear Obama camp, please do not pretend that this is about the difference in age between Barack and the men on our money, or that it's all about him being new to Washington so he doesn't see himself in these engravings.

Please! He's intelligent, we're intelligent, you're intelligent...! No more waffling around this issue! Onward!

"Sweet thang... When you call a 'spade a spade', stick with it!” At least we know you're coming from an honest place!

  • Falling Into the Precipice of Our Being

“Falling Into the Precipice of Our Being!” Brahm => Kris => Serge & Mark

With these words, Brahm stole my metaphysical heart the other night, on the radio show I co-host with Mark Bukator and Serge Grandbois [and Kris, of course]. I so very much want to ‘fall into the precipice of my being’ and would pay money to do it!

Let me explain a few details before getting into the good bits of this amazing show. [There’s always a back-story!]

Usually it is Kris who comes through and we have a wonderful discussion about the nitty-gritty of how we work with our energies within consciousness. Brahm has only come through on the radio show once before, and it’s always a distinct change in vibration when he does.

He followed up on Kris’ earlier discussion about everything being a process, not a state. Essence, like everything else in consciousness, is not a ‘thing’ but a ‘process’. So people who are frantically searching everywhere for that one last thing, that last little bit of understanding that will allow them to graduate from being merely human, to the exalted state of Essence-hood, are limiting themselves fairly drastically. [There is nothing to attain, only re-engagement of a vast and continuing process.]

Brahm almost seemed to be using the ‘should’ word, when he said that in the context of “The Shift”, we must change our paradigm of ourselves in order to allow a larger paradigm of ‘who and what we are’ to emerge. He pointed out that this was not a ‘should’ but simply a requirement for the expanded state of beingness we have chosen to explore. It is our idea of ourselves that is the most limiting factor in our lives and, not surprisingly, from my perspective this is also the most challenging thing for us to change.

Brahm then launched into an extended metaphor about the young eagle being kicked out of the nest. Our little eaglet will certainly find this a shocking development, and feel like it’s going to smack it’s little birdy-ass on the cold, hard ground below - and probably die! Or at least lose money, be embarrassed, or default on a credit card payment, to put this kind of precipitous disaster into human terms.

But something else happens and our darling little chick automatically opens her wings and starts to ‘go with the flow’. Suddenly air is much more than an invisible constant taken for granted. It becomes a medium for new categories of movement and exploration that give glorious new meaning to wings that had been awkward, floppy impediments until now.

Our little chick instantly accesses potentials she didn’t even know she had, in a process we humans call ‘learning to fly’. All this without one iota of understanding of the aerodynamics involved. [Take that Wright brothers!]

We understand, with the most pro-active compassion, that for every individual chick it must still be a pretty amazing experience! Jumping out of that warm and comfortable nest, and falling into the Abyss! And then... soaring safely in the air currents. And then... flying freely as high as we want!

Soaring eventually to heights unimaginable from the confines of our dear nest! [to which we can return whenever we want, by the way! We are now in the ‘neo-nest’ that includes the nest we leapt from, and a whole lot more!]

Now, dear reader, imagine you’re that eagle chick! [So that means ALL the dramas in your life have been about learning to fly!]

It was fairly amazing in these moments on the radio, to be discussing this with Brahm, coming as he is from the Entity layer of consciousness and all. My inner vision opened up wide and I saw walls dissolving before my eyes, allowing the ‘winds of change’ to blow gently but firmly, through everything I had been thinking about who I was and how the world worked.

Vast universes drifted by, each filled with uncounted trillions of everything conceivable. All this spreading to the outer-most reaches of whatever else might be conceivable, and expanding from there. And then all this somehow folding inwards upon itself, compounding itself, to produce even more evolved understandings of many, many composite and inter-related layers of our amazing selves and our unlimited potentials.

I have to tell you, in all frankness, Brahm blows my headlights every single time. In some ways it’s a blessing he doesn’t come that often, because replacing all those bulbs can run into real money!

Identity turns out to be something we use to express our current, and ever-changing, idea of ‘who and what we are’. In other words our identity is a process too, not the ‘thing’ we might have been assuming was somewhere within us, waiting to finally be exposed.

This really highlights any kind of rigidness we might notice inside ourselves. If something is always ‘right or wrong’, ‘black or white’, or ‘go - no go’, then we might benefit from some connectedness thinking... [Let’s try to soften the boundaries within, and re-energize the openness of our engagement with the multi-various energies we find in ourselves!]

“And” is Always the Answer [even though there are very few absolutes]

If we want to move forward, our steadfast and stalwart response to our dilemmas, paradoxes and conundrums must always be ‘and’. The sooner we open our understanding to accept this Principle of Consciousness, the sooner we begin harvesting the conscious creation benefits of straddling these dichotomous perspectives.

We can use these challenges as we intended, to vault us into even more subtle and heartfelt understanding and appreciation of the dynamics of our consciousness.

  • Abundance of Lack

This email is in response to a friend who wants very, very much to have abundance in his life. He is doing everything he can think of to create this abundance according to conscious creation methodologies, but is anxious that he might be missing something crucial.

    - - - - -

    Dear Abundance Seeker

I feel a big push in your energy towards having more abundance, and this is wonderful, powerful energy. But as you mentioned this may also indicate a focus on NOT being abundant.

It is a big step to realize that where we are, here and now, is not the enemy! In fact where we are, here and now, IS the abundance we are seeking if we can only relax our energy and accept ourselves and our potentials. Here and now, from an expanded viewpoint, is really all we've got! [And there's lots of it!]

Here and now is everything we could ever dream of, and when we reject our here and now as not enough, we reject ourselves and our potential! So in your passion to create abundance, to have something other than what you have in this moment, you are literally rejecting your own abundance! We are such marvelous beings that out of our unlimited abundance, we can even produce lack if we choose to focus on it!

[In the same way, our freedom is so unlimited that by carefully and vigilantly controlling the focus of our attention, we can even create powerlessness and victimhood. Such is our power.]

I know this sounds a bit silly, but only by accepting our present self and our present now as an expression of our unlimited abundance, can we start to allow the universe (which is US) to offer ourselves more, perhaps in a configuration that better suits who we are becoming. As long as we reject ourselves and our nows, we have tied our own hands, so to speak, and cannot then allow the universe to offer us more of what we want.

The practical way to do this is to start choosing, in our here and nows, to appreciate the abundance we find in and around ourselves, and stop rejecting all of this as not enough. This change in our energy will slowly transform our experience and show us ways to allow more of what we want.

The pathway to more abundance is paved with noticing and appreciating the abundance we already have in our heres and nows, not by building frustration and anxiety by continually rejecting our heres and nows, and focusing on the absence of what we want.

How does this look in everyday terms? Make it a point several times in a day to take a deep breath and appreciate the abundance of air and the sweetness of filling your lungs with it. Notice and revel in the experience of enough air - way more than enough air! - for ourselves and everyone on the planet.

Notice how sweetly and gently we provide ourselves with all the necessities of beingness. We have an abundance of desire, an abundance of feeling, an abundance of potential, and an abundance of time and space to create whatever we want.

Notice especially that there is more than enough YOU! As you begin to appreciate yourself, you will find that the amount of ‘you’ that rises up to be appreciated too, is literally endless and extremely revelatory!

From these new perspectives, notice and appreciate all of your feelings of lack too, honoring the fact that your potentials and resources are so unlimited that you can even produce an abundance of lack!

  • Letting the Universal Manager Do Her Part!

This e-mail was in response to a friend having problems trying to finish a book. He had a dream in which he struggled to create a store display by packing books (!) into a display case. This proved to be very difficult and as no one offered to help, he gave up and walked away in frustration. Immediately his manager, working with another employee, and breaking union rules, filled the rest of the display with big red apples.

    - - - - -
I agree that your dream was about your book project, among other things...

We have all been taught that pushing our energy (that is to say attempting to force things to go our way even when they don't seem to want to) is an appropriate response to sorting things out in the world to better suit us. This turns out to be unsupportable nonsense.

As we begin to know and experience the fact that the World is a confirmation of our energetic expressions, we realize that pushing the world results in the world pushing back! It's just the physics of consciousness. So our experience becomes that of always attempting to fit into a world that doesn't seem to have a place for us.

Pushing ourselves is simply another variation of pushing the world. Except when we push ourselves it gets up close and personal and the push back can get very close to home. When we try to make the world be what we want, the world reflects that by increasing demands on us that we measure up to the world's expectations. When we try to force ourselves to be what we perceive we are not, ourSelves reflect that by seeming to force us, against our will, to deal with personal aspects that are difficult and that we don't want to acknowledge.

As illustrated beautifully in your dream, the solution is so simple and easy that it takes your breath away to experience it. Just let go of pushing or forcing your energy, or will, or intentions on ANYthing! Do the best you can with any situation and then relax and allow your whole self, which includes the World, to be what it naturally is - a divine force moving inexorably towards Self fulfillment.

The reflection of this in our relationship with the world is conditions and circumstances that are relaxed and easy and allow us to have the experiences we want, in the most serendipitous and practical way. The reflection of this in our relationship with ourselves is a civilization of aspects that smoothly appear and disappear in each moment, in an orchestration of traits and abilities that spontaneously unfolds within us, as unending open-ended opportunities to explore our potential and fulfill ourselves.

In your dream, after you have done your best with the 'information' available to you (the books) and when you accept that you cannot do any more and 'walk away' (crucial) the Universal Manager takes over and cheerfully fills the gap with 'knowledge' (apples) which is even better than information.

A particularly nice aspect of your dream is that when we walk away from an issue after doing our best, the Universal Manager will sometimes even break the rules of official reality as we understand them, to fulfill our intent, because this aspect of ourselves is not limited by our focal belief systems. This is the hidden back door through which the miraculous can sneak onto our stage, if we allow it!

  • ‘Yes, and…’ Lessons from Improv

“Yes, and...” - Life Lessons from Improv

I was struck the other day while watching The View when Canadian Mike Myers, was talking to Whoopi about his movie, “The Love Guru”. He mentioned that being a good collaborator was about always saying “Yes, and...” to whatever was being offered by a colleague.

Intrigued by how this related to recent insights I have been having about the importance of allowance and acceptance, I found this description on Wikipedia...

[please bear with me through this lengthy quote, note the emphasis, and be attuned to parallels to Conscious Creation...]

    - - - - -

“In order for an improvised scene to be successful, the actors involved must work together responsively to define the parameters and action of the scene, in a process of co-creation. With each spoken word or action in the scene, an actor makes an offer, meaning that he or she defines some element of the reality of the scene. This might include giving another character a name, identifying a relationship, location, or using mime to define the physical environment. These activities are also known as endowment. It is the responsibility of the other actors to accept the offers that their fellow performers make; to not do so is known as blocking, or negation, which usually prevents the scene from developing. Some performers may deliberately block (or otherwise break out of character) for comedic effect -- this is known as gagging -- but this generally prevents the scene from advancing and is frowned upon by many improvisers. Accepting an offer is usually accompanied by adding a new offer, often building on the earlier one; this is a process improvisers refer to as "Yes, And..." and is considered the cornerstone of improvisational technique. Every new piece of information added helps the actors to refine their characters and progress the action of the scene.” [all emphasis mine]

    - - - - -

These improv techniques are startlingly similar to what I have been learning about improvising my own everyday life - surely this is what ‘creating your own reality’ is all about. So many of us respond, to so many of life’s moments, with “No, but...” instead of “Yes, and...”, and thereby block the development of whatever our issues might be. [It’s not that any position or situation is right or wrong, but that was the situation a year ago wasn’t it?, and the rest of us have moved on!]

The ‘yes’ part is accepting whatever Life offers us. This is allowance and accepting whatever reality we find ourselves in, as the first step to orienting ourselves, and understanding how we are expressing our energies.

The ‘and’ part is expressing ourSelves and taking the next step in this particular ‘morality play' - in the best possible sense of that phrase - as we act nobly in the world, make choices, and otherwise express our feelings and ideas to advance our plans by exploring and engaging the astonishing new prospects we see just around the corner... [like a friend once said, the Internet [and life] is not about where you are, it’s about where you’re going!]

We recall that, while the motive for these wonderfully insightful improv players, is entertainment, and there may be a lesson here too!, perhaps our own lofty goals of ‘wisdom, love and freedom’ could be best served by faithfully responding to everything life offers with, “Yes, and...”

    - - - - -

I think these improv guys better watch out though, because what they are doing is creating actual probabilities. And one night... perhaps we are up late and have a couple too many, various conditions may contribute, but suddenly it becomes possible to slip between probabilities... Spooky!

This may be where the old saying ‘watch what you ask for’ comes from.

  • Top Ten Tips for Easy Shifting

I have been using these lazy, hazy days of summer to update my website. So today I find myself writing the Page that a few months back I originally entitled, in a moment of whimsy one assumes, “Top Ten Tips for Easy Shifting”.

After a number of years reading and digesting the information being offered by various channeled sources, I have come up with the top ten things I have learned, over the last thirty years. This stuff really works, for me anyway, and here I offer you my condensed version, suitable for both novices and aficionados.

Top Ten Tips for Easy Shifting

1 - Acknowledge that you exist and have a place in the world - that you are ‘amongst those present’ as the lovely old English phrase goes. So, be present, to yourself and to the moment. [It’s not as hard as it might seem, and the rewards are, well... Whatever they are!]

2 - Accept - and appreciate wherever possible - the world as it presents itself to you. And accept the various aspects of yourself in the same way. Oppose nothing outwardly or inwardly. [Expressing opposing energy results in... experiencing opposing conditions and circumstances. That’s what physical reality is... an outer reflection and confirmation of our inner representations.]

3 - Celebrate joy, pleasure, loving feelings, communion, giving and receiving, and all of this without boundaries or limitations. Don’t just smell that rose 'sweet thang', grab it and get up close and personal with it! [Have your way with that rose, and take the rest home for rosehip tea!]

4 - Create and share ideas freely and express whatever you are moved to. [Nothing is lost and everything is gained when you express yourself in ANY circumstance!]

5 - Allow regenerative change as indicated, while honoring memory and history [You can’t go anywhere unless you’re coming from somewhere!] Learn to act with the strength of your intentions as well as your convictions. [When in doubt though, just do it!]

5b - Let’s not be so darn quick sometimes, to label these changing things and judge them and react to things, simply as they may appear in any given moment, or series of moments. [A good question to ask is how we feel about the direction of these changes.]

The Now is not always such a bad thing that we need to deny it and look elsewhere! Let's allow ourselves to change our mind sometimes - without comment! - and sometimes even open a door to compromise, allowance and cooperation! Why not expand our understanding, and reverse the probabilities around an unpromising course of action. [Freedom is not about choice, it's about choosing again!]

The tone of the game changes dramatically when we learn to be gentle with ourselves, because soon we find ourselves being more allowing and compassionate with all the whole world around us. [...and shortly after that the Whole World starts being more gentle and accommodating with us! Go figure!]

Let’s accept ourselves as we try one thing and then choose something else, and then change our minds again to something else entirely! [This is freedom! Who cares what we choose? What’s it matter anyway? We can choose again and again, and everybody else is free to make their own choices too!]

6 - Within every fleeting moment of this Now, when we pause for a moment’s reflection about something, anything... In this slightly detached and observational moment, lie extraordinarily rich and fertile opportunities, rolling out before us in all directions and times, fruitful and ripe with choices deliciously aligned with our personal preferences. We only have to take a moment to look, to see all this.

7 - And let’s be clear! We can choose to be anything in such a moment! And often do!

8 - There is always MORE than whatever the current ‘container’ for consciousness might be, be it thoughts, ideas, beliefs, choices, behavior, concepts, or whatever physical actions or perceived circumstances might be making up our present conception of ourselves and the world [that is to say, our current Worldview expressed through our current Ego Construction].

9 - Feelings are our most meaningful guide through this fantastic labyrinth of our selves as expressed in our daily adventures. Follow the feelings of spine tingling, thrilling delight, and you won’t ever be far off.

10 - All the other people in our lives are ‘comrades in arms’ who are joining us in this endeavor we call physical reality for one reason, and one reason only. They love to be with us, in any and all capacities, and we love to be with them!

Thus everyone we meet is a much loved ancestor, sibling and/or descendant to whom we owe the deepest gratitude and appreciation. We’re all in this together... for a reason!

  • Info Diagram Page

[FYI - a copy of our new “Information Diagram” page] - - - - - As I begin to understand something, I start making a picture of the ideas involved to help me sort it out. What follows is a number of these images created over the last few years. [There are many, many others.] And so above [...]
