  • We Create Our Own Reality

You Create Your Own Reality - 101

All the ‘dead guys’ are adamant about this point, we create our own reality. It is as though this is an idea whose time has come. Science, weather, cartoons, presidential elections, they all point to the fact that we create our own reality.

It was Seth, channeled by Jane Roberts who first coined this phrase but it has grown to define a movement in consciousness that is only gathering strength in this new millennium.

Just being ‘alive and kicking’ steers our reality creation mechanisms in whatever direction we concentrate our attention. This is our power as expressions of Source in this physical dimension.

Ok, so let’s talk for a moment about the mechanics of reality creation and why it is so significant for us to begin to accept our role and responsibility in the creation of our own reality. [What might at first blush seem like a burden turns out to be the ultimate freedom so please bear with me.]

If you create your own reality, as all the ‘dead guys’ tell us, you are creating the one you’re experiencing right now. This is not something you can stop doing, or fail to do, or screw up in any way. This is not a superpower we can turn on and off.

In each moment, without exception, we each immaculately create our own reality without thought or effort, and there’s really nothing we can do about it at that level. It is an inherent characteristic of our being.

Of course we have free will and can pretend with uncanny convincingness that we are a victim of our realities, or ‘the devil made me do it’, or whatever rationalization we might choose to deny our innate powers and settle for a reality we don’t like.

This basic fact of how we create our lives here in the physical takes nothing away from the deeply angelic and metaphysical meaning of the experiences we create for ourselves. Of course it’s all about the metaphorical meaning, and the inchoate feelings, and the myriad relationships, and the awesome realizations that allow us to unscrew the inscrutable. This is all true and of immense value.

But there is something refreshing, almost astringent, about accepting as a simple mechanical fact that where we point our attention, living realities start spinning off and streaming towards us to experience if we choose.

[We, each of us, are the captain of our ship, and the resources and potential of the entire universe, known and unknown, lie poised and waiting to manifest 'more of' whatever we choose to point our attention at.]

If you are starting to think this is a rather egotistical thing, this creating our own reality, keep in mind that where you end up focusing your attention on any given day is only about half your choice. The other half is the pattern of familiar and interesting things your reality does all day long that capture your attention.

This is the alarm in the morning followed by the coffee and drive to work, the red lights and green, everything that we place our attention on during the day, followed by a trip to the pub for a couple of short ones and a couple of hours in front of the TV after dinner.

Our neo-conscious provides this daily pattern of focal points to allow us to effortlessly redefine our world by affirming the necessary beliefs, assumptions and conventions that allow our everyday world to reconstruct itself with the ideal levels of continuity and novelty.

These daily patterns of attention, mostly directed by our neo-conscious, direct our reality creation mechanisms just as much as the ‘conscious’ choices we make as a self-aware ego construction.

The good thing is that our neo-conscious mind is absolutely open to input from us about what kinds of experiences we want to have. In fact the neo-conscious actually looks to us for guidance and direction in this. Such is our power.

  • Putting YCYOR Ideas Together

Putting a Couple of Ideas Together

In the interests of integration, I have been putting together some of the basic ideas of ‘you create your own reality' thinking. It's fun to extrapolate some of these ideas and see what they look like in combination with each other.

The basic idea, obviously, is that we each create our own experience of reality right down to the molecular level. [Whether we literally create our own reality, or merely create our experience of our reality, or it's only our perception of our reality, it all amounts to the same thing.]

The second idea that impacts greatly on the first one, is the idea that the ‘we' that is conscious and thinks about our life here, is only a small part of the ‘we' that is creating the whole of our reality for us, moment-to-moment.

There is much more of us involved in this grand endeavor than our conscious daily thoughts and beliefs. Kris has called the conscious part of ourselves ‘the thinker' and our neo-conscious selves - our whole self - is ‘the maker'. And it is at the layer of the 'maker' that our material creation energies come into play to actually manifest our reality.

This is a realm within ourselves that our conscious awareness almost never visits, although there is no prohibition. [Does this suggest that our conscious awareness can travel ANYwhere within the neo-conscious? And still maintain appropriate recognition of the various layers of self involved in the gestalt, including and without diminishing the focal personality!]

The neo-conscious is not the ‘un'-conscious or the ‘sub'-conscious and does not exclude the conscious. The neo-conscious encompasses the totality of what we are aware of at any level; our conscious awareness, plus our subjective awareness, and in expanding layers, our awareness as essence, entity, and eventually ATI.

When we put these two ideas together we understand that our stance regarding our neo-conscious must be based on trust of our whole selves to create the experiences we want - without our direct supervision, so to speak. This is why the ‘dead guys' always stress trusting ourselves and our essential goodness.

This also places a huge premium on knowing our selves, including our whole selves, as best we can. This is why the ‘dead guys' are always talking about noticing what we are doing, and accepting ourselves without judgement.

If we don't know and trust our whole selves, the conscious part of us - the thinker - may start to think of the part of us that is creating our reality - the maker - as an unpredictable stranger. [and if that's what we're 'thinkin', that's what we're 'makin'!]

    Be Gentle With Yourself

This brings me to the last idea for today. All the ‘dead guys', to a man, [woman, source, spirit, energy, genderless sensuality... ;] regardless of gender they all admonish us to be gentle with ourselves. This makes good sense when you think about it because if we create our own reality, we are the sole source and cause of every unpleasant and difficult thing that has ever happened to us! [We don't just make the nice bits of our reality, we make it all]

So do your world a big favor and be good to yourself.
