John Hawkins reports from the front lines of "You Create Your Own Reality".

This is my post in another forum responding to someone asking
what we were creating when we masturbate. As we are concentrating on
being with Jessica Alba, (or Brad Pitt) in these perhaps frequent
moments, [and it goes without saying, all of this with a great deal of
passion which is supposed to add a real zing to our reality creation
efforts], how does all this energy and focus get expressed by our
reality creation mechanisms?
In other words, what kind of reality creation are we doing when
we are ... well, spanking our monkeys! [there have to be as many
euphemisms for masturbation as there are for intercourse] - - - - -
Hi folks
Thanks for this interesting discussion. This is an area where I too have done my share of research.
I would like to add my own perspectives to the excellent points
already made above. The first point is that I think we sometimes make
the mistake of taking the formulations of reality creation principles
such as “the Law of Attraction” a little too literally and
simplistically.
It is helpful to keep in mind that our reality creation abilities
represent vastly expanded aspects of ourselves, not some poor cousin
from the country who needs to be spoken to carefully and slowly to be
sure they understand what is wanted.
I think it’s fair to say that our whole self and our reality
creation mechanisms know the difference between what we concentrate on
as being the bedrock reality we live in - who we really think we
are - as compared to a pleasurable fantasy in the privacy and safety of
our own bedroom.
The whole point, pleasure and meaning of masturbation is that we are
NOT with Jessica Alba, Brad Pitt or anybody else for that matter. If we
where we would not be masturbating.
Kris has given us a powerful tool to cut through a lot of seemingly
complex or confusing situations in our lives by simply asking ourselves
the question, “What is being valued here?”
When a person is masturbating what is being valued is usually, I can
only speak for myself here, private pleasure, often in the safety and
comfort of their own bed, accompanied by projecting harmless,
titillating fantasies inside their own head.
The bedrock reality we are working with here, from the perspective
of the focal personality, is that we are alone and comfortable and
fantasizing about something pleasurable.
The very point of our fantasies is that they are NOT real which
relieves us of a lot of potentially mood dampening concerns like how do
we look and smell, and what time of the month is it. It’s brilliant
really.
And our whole self, including our reality creation mechanisms,
understands all this perfectly - probably better than we do - and the
reality we create by this kind of concentration is a lovely surge of
creative juices, so to speak, followed by a sigh of satisfaction and
maybe a short nap, just as intended.

Kris has declared his theme for us in 2009 to be “The Tao of the Diamond Consciousness” and goes on to say that this could be said to be his own path in life!
I always find it fascinating to get personal details about the 'dead
guys', and for Kris to describe his own ('their own’ really because he
represents a group of entities) Tao or path in life, is very revealing
and exciting for me.
It is surely not insignificant that we are to walk this very same
path with Kris for next year’ theme. We must be getting close to
something!
Here is the relevant excerpt from the last International Session on December 14th...
- - - - -
JOHN: Absolutely. The way I say that to myself in short form is
“If I deny myself, then the world, which is a reflection of my actions,
denies me.”
KRIS: And therefore the world is denied.
JOHN: Exactly.
KRIS:
Thus, you could say that even though we chose it as a theme for the
next year, The Tao of the Diamond Consciousness, you could say that it
is also our path.
JOHN: Ah! That’s interesting! That’s a very interesting comment. Do you mind expanding a tiny bit on that?
KRIS: We thought we just did!
JOHN: Ah ha ha! Okay…. so the Tao of the Diamond Consciousness
could be said to be your — meaning Kris, the group that you represent —
your path personally. That’s very interesting. So we’re catching up to
you next year!
KRIS: Indeed, pretty soon we expect you to walk on water!
JOHN: Well, as long as it’s very shallow water, I’m okay with that!
KRIS: Indeed!

The
idea of belief negotiation has taken hold and I am posting here a
couple of pieces on this topic from other forums. Just to keep
everybody informed. The first piece is from an email to some friends
describing my present embarrassment of riches within consciousness. The
second piece is from my new website devoted entirely to belief
negotiation [beliefnegotiator.com]. This is an idea whose time has come.
- - - - -
My own situation is that I have learned so much lately that I
haven't been able to put all of it into practice. I find myself
noticing some daily travail or bad habit and just throwing up my hands
in consciousness and letting it go. I know how to address these things
but there's only so much time in a day. Because of this embarrassment
of riches, I am starting to trust organic priorities to show up and
force my hand, so to speak, and more and more willing to let things
that maybe I thought 'should' be happening, slide a bit.
I am reminded of an old joke from my days growing up in Owen Sound.
The agricultural representative (a much maligned and belittled
government employee], came around to see the old farmer to show him all
the modern new ways of farming, and the old farmer dismisses him
impatiently, "I already know how to farm much better than what I'm
doing now!"
What I fantasize about is a machine that uses artificial
intelligence, hypnosis, and perhaps sensory probes [grin], to assess
the belief structures and habitual expressions influencing the reality
creation mechanisms of any particular individual, and then gives them
ready access to the resources and imagery needed to redress any
untoward situations in their lives.
I am seriously thinking of getting the url "Belief Negotiator"
because I think a living could be made, and a very valuable service
offered, by someone who was willing to engage the belief structures of
their clients convincingly, and then suggest and facilitate immediately
helpful adjustments and accommodations. More and more people are
realizing that beliefs are the tools we use to formulate our behavior
and experiences. Anyone offering effective help rearranging a person's
beliefs is going to become a busy and sought-after person
- - - - -

Why Belief Negotiation?
I am sure there are a few things about your life you’d like to change. Everybody would like to make some changes in their reality, even if it’s only boiling the kettle faster or finding missing socks.
For most of us the alterations we have in mind are much more
aggressive and significant; more money, less hassle, a new job, car,
house, good health, a beautiful body, a beautiful mate... The list goes
on.
Information is emerging that shows how important our beliefs are in
forming our reality. It turns out that what we believe is a sort of
lens through which we shine our reality creation energy. What comes out
the other side - the realities we create - is enormously influenced by
the beliefs we hold.
This can get right down to the nitty-gritty. Deepak Chopra tells a
story about flying in a plane with his mother over India. They had
planned to avoid stopping over in a particular city because his mother
broke out in hives whenever she was in this city. She blamed the
pollution as well as other qualities of this particular city for her
painful skin reaction.
Deepak and his family had planned the route to avoid this city but
after his mother went to sleep, the pilot came on and announced that
bad weather was forcing them to make an unplanned stop in the city in
question.
When Deepak woke his mother she was feeling fine, assuming they were at their intended destination. Within seconds
of telling her about the bad weather and where she really was, an
astonished Deepak watched hives appear on his mother's arms and face.
This illustrates the power and immediacy of the influence of our
beliefs on the realities we create for ourselves moment-to-moment. One
minute this woman believed she was in Pondicherri and she felt fine,
the next minute she realizes she is in Bangalore and she is covered in
itchy hives. Such a dramatic change in her physical reality, and the
only thing that has changed is her beliefs.
When we experience the impact of our own beliefs on the experiences
we create for ourselves, the first thing everybody does is try to kill
the bad beliefs. If we can simply get rid of these bad and limiting
beliefs, everything will be just fine.
But think back to the illustration above. We need beliefs as
the lens or filter through which we express our reality creation
energy. Without beliefs we can’t create realities so the point is not
to get rid of beliefs, but to either negotiate a better influence, or
move our concentration to another belief.
This is where a Belief Negotiator comes in very handy. In the same
way that every writer needs an editor because we can’t see our own
typos, most people need help from other people to be able to notice
their own beliefs.
A savy and well trained belief negotiator can quickly identify the
hidden beliefs that are creating what we don’t want, and address them
directly either in the waking state, engaging the conscious intellect,
or in a hypnotic state engaging the sub-conscious. Often what we think
of as a belief is only one of countless possible influences of an
underlying core belief we hardly ever think about but have always just
assumed to be true.
Once the foundational belief has been identified, it is
comparatively easy in most cases to negotiate a new influence of the
belief that allows us to create a much better outcome. This loosening
of the hold of particular influences is often facilitated by aligning
our present intent with the original intent of the core belief in
question.
One of the ways we stop beating ourselves up is to realize that
every belief we have chosen has been for a reason, and our enduring
intentions for ourselves have always been overwhelmingly positive,
wholesome and compassionate.

Dictating Change
The other morning I had a very interesting experience. Upon
awakening, as I often do, I enjoyed a few minutes of just floating off
into that wonderful warm space between dreaming and waking up, where I
can think about my dreams, or about reviewing the possibilities of the
day coming up, or just floating off into that wonderful, delicious
hypnogogic state.
As I lay there contemplating the day ahead, I realized that I had no
obligations. I didn’t have to go to work. I didn’t have to see anybody.
I didn’t have to do any work on the computer. It was a Day Off!
What happened next is, to a very great degree, due to Kris’s
continual admonitions to us to be aware of our internal dialogue.
Paying attention to what we are saying to ourselves inside our own head
is a basic part of the noticing that we need to do in order to understand what we’re creating in our reality. [Inner dialogue is particularly revealing when you get two different voices arguing about something.]
That morning I observed myself saying, “Oh good, I don’t have to do
anything today!” Another common variation on this feeling in the past
has been, “Oh good, I don’t have to BE anybody today!”
As
I heard myself say this, there were accompanying feelings and
expressions of release and relaxation. I stretched out luxuriously on
the bed and sighed a great, heartfelt sign from deep in my belly as I
contemplated a day where I didn’t have to do ANYthing or BE anybody.
The part of me that was observing these proceedings noted
immediately that this was not a SMART suggestion. A SMART suggestion is
never about not doing something. The ‘T’ in SMART means “Towards”.
“Don’t have to do anything today” is pointed away from having to do things. A SMARTer suggestion would be “I can do anything I want today!”
This may seem a subtle difference but the second version is pointed towards what we can do, as opposed to away from what we don’t have to do. This is immensely important because it influences our attitude and the choices we offer ourselves.
I bring this up not simply to highlight the ideas of listening to
internal dialogue, and editing our suggestions to ourselves to make
them SMARTer, but because it synchronizes with the fact that I have not
been happy with how I’m conducting my own personal lifestyle.
My ‘personal lifestyle’ is the things I do when I’m home alone, and
I have no obligations, can put off showering until noon, and usually
sit around in underwear or less, and just generally do nothing. I
usually end up eating bad food and watching bad television and spending
a lot of time cruising, no surfing on the Internet.
[btw - this dictation software is fantastic!]
While this lifestyle has not been unrewarding in the past, as a
release from, and expression of opposition to, earlier perceptions of
my relationship with Official Reality, my feelings lately are that this
attitude does not honor and value appropriately my potential to
actually do and create the realities that I want.
- - - - -
Just
in the matter of taking a shower, for instance, I have recently changed
my strategy in this area of my personal life. I have recently invested
in ‘mid-range’ skin creams and switched from Ivory - a mainstay for
decades because it was the cheapest - to Dove’s ‘age defying beauty
bar’ which I researched on the Internet as very highly regarded in
popular skin care circles.
And may I just say, without feeling I am in an infomercial, that
being present to my physical body consciousness has been a constant
delight ever since that first shower with Dove the other morning. [Never mind seven days, I was feeling it on the very first try!]
- - - - -
I recall ‘days off’ as a student at the University of Toronto, when
I took my wonderful ‘alfresco’ watercolor kit down to Queens Park to
sketch the equestrian statue of Edward VII. What a delicious feeling to
sit there and ‘hold up your thumb’ at an historic statue, in the midst
of a noonday municipal park, meanwhile realizing that you are
undoubtedly intersecting at multiple subconscious layers with other
resonant experiences you are enjoying in these ancient and familiar
landmarks and well-trod pathways of consciousness.
In later years I took long car trips with friends through the back
roads around Owen Sound. We would drink beer and in later years smoke
pot, and meanwhile talk and laugh and enjoy ourselves for hours. What
wonderful feelings recalling these times evoke in me, even now.
When I compare and contrast this kind of ‘free time’ activity with
what I have been doing lately with my days off from official reality,
it becomes starkly obvious that my current strategies need to be
rethought. The reason is because I’m just not getting the same kind of
fulfillment out of sitting around in my underwear - or less - in front
of the TV eating Cheetos - my current vision of the glory of just being
me and having a day off from outer obligations.
So, recasting the possibilities of such a day in terms of my ability
to do the things that I want, seems much more harmonious with my
present understanding of my potential and indeed the potential of each
of us. We can engineer our lives such that we rarely, if ever feel the
kinds of feelings that Abe says are below middle C on the piano. We can
have an entirely positive and fulfilling life experience if we are
willing to allow our own natural processes which are always striving
towards larger and broader and more expansive understandings of
ourselves.
I
don’t thing the influence of our attitudes around all this can be
overstated. By attitude I mean something surprisingly similar actually
to the aeronautical term ‘attitude’ which describes the position and
orientation of an object in flight.
To give ourselves an idea of the impact of attitude, let’s think
about walking across a 2 x 4 stretched between two chairs in your
living room. That would be attitude "1". Now think about walking
between the rooftops of two adjacent buildings on that exact same 2 x
4. That would be attitude "2", and the difference in our attitude in
these two situations would have much to do with the outcomes we are to
experience, would it not?
When I look at my spare time as a space within which I am able to
express, and do, and feel, and be, and fulfill what I am, the kind of
choices I offer myself are very different than the ones I offer myself
on a day when “I don’t have to do or be anything”. Not doing what you
don’t want is very different from doing what you want.
-----
Procedural note: In the process of 'writing' this article I
devised a method whereby I can stand with a headset in the middle of my
living room, maybe ten or twelve feet from my computer, and dictate
into my journaling software in perfect view of what I am recording. I
discovered that I am able to write, to dictate, into the computer from
the middle of the room - walking around - without having to sit in
front of a keyboard and a mouse. Lovely!

Allowance and Opposition Revisited
This is my response to a post in another forum about the trials
of living amongst fundamentalist Christians in a suddenly Obama world...
Hi [correspondent]
I just noticed your question today about facing a challenge that
escapes you presently. I would like to hear more about living in the
bible belt and engaging people with very different world-views than
yours and mine.
A friend once told me that people the media might call right-wing
fundamental Christians, can be and often are, the nicest people in the
world to share your town with. They are overwhelmingly honest, hard-working and
generous and often willing to contribute and work together for a
wholesome and family-oriented community.
It is only when these nice people face themselves with the ‘other’,
as in other races and cultures and world-views, that they can get
difficult and even nasty. Keeping
in mind we all create our own reality, we can see that these people
purposefully push themselves out of their comfort zone to help them
address to the beliefs behind their feelings of being threatened by difference.
[Of course this ‘other’ is always made up of aspects of ourselves we don’t want to look at, but that’s another story.]
Now why would anyone plunk themselves down in the middle of a lot of
people with this worldview? Possibly to present themselves with an
inescapable out-picturing of their own beliefs about truth, their inner
representations about who they are and how the world works.
Let’s quickly review opposing and allowing. What we resist, persists!
Whether it is our dear friends the right-wingers opposing liberals, or
ourselves opposing what we think our dear friends are doing, the action
is the same. We are each perpetuating this particular experience for
ourselves because we are concentrating on it. [you cannot oppose something without keeping at least a part of your attention on it at all times]
So what does allowance offer that opposing does not?
When our attitude and behavior reflects acceptance and allowance,
the ‘other’ is seen as presenting fulfilling opportunities to re-engage
lost aspects of ourselves. With this perspective, we naturally exude a
different energy in everything we say and do.
With this attitude, our impulse is to pool potential not entrench
differences. We are sometimes even willing to engage and appreciate
perceived differences, rather than always trying to compare, evaluate
or fix.
The kinds of choices we offer ourselves in this state of allowance
are supportive and wholesome and unifying. Whereas the choices we offer
ourselves when we are engaging oppositional strategies are divisive,
protective, even threatening to the ‘other’ which is, of course, us
threatening our selves. [Let’s just say, not a perfect picture of trust and harmony!]
So the choice is quite stark here. One approach results in a world
where we accept and allow the world to be what it is, and the world
accepts and allows us to be who we are. In this atmosphere, limitations
and differences dissolve away and new perspectives and possibilities
abound.
The other approach rejects each and every now as not quite what was
wanted, and focuses on making comparisons and judgements and opposing
what is not preferred. This automatically creates a world that rejects
anyone who holds this attitude as being found wanting, and continually
judges and opposes them!
Hello! What world do WE want to live in?

What To Do - The Ego’s Reach
Hi [correspondent]
You raise an interesting question here... the role of the much maligned ego...
‘The Ego's Reach.’ This could be the name of a song or book. I feel
that the Ego, that part of us that we could consider to be the
'"I-ness" of being Me', this aspect of ourselves may, in fact, be the
ultimate thing, however unsettling this might be for many of us to
contemplate.
If we think about it, even ATI was a bit shy in the beginning, just
as we are now, about expressing its/our desires and actually
manifesting something, which in its case turned out to be all the
universes! So imagine for a moment that your present perspective,
'little old you', is the be-all and end-all! [this blows low self worth away completely!]
Consider that the conscious ego with all it's perceived limitations
could be, in fact, the closest thing to the mindset and subjective
experience of All That Is! [So whatever you've got, 'That’s What It Is!']
When we acknowledge that we don't really get it, and have
been mostly hoping for more background on a few things, we are exactly
expressing the feeling tone, attitude and eternal dilemma of ATI -
sometimes called its agony - What to do!
What to do about the simple facts before us is a daunting challenge we all face daily. What to do about consciousness and being!

Re: Perfection?
Hi [correspondent]
Wonderfully thoughtful and thought provoking posts... I especially like the idea that our ego may be applying the brakes when we try to push too far beyond our familiar sense of who we are...
quote from original post... In my case this quickly freed me from stiffness and body aches that I was experiencing, and writing off to advancing age. In other words, someone was applying the brakes in the best way it knew how.
This passage especially caught my attention... as one who is no stranger to aches and stiffness... Very helpful insights as to what this might be about.
If we think about our perfection in another way - rather than being a final state with nothing left to do - as an exquisitely appropriate process where/when everything is constantly changing, and what is perfect is that everything invariably changes in a way that is meaningful and fulfilling... to us personally!
In this way of thinking the little sprout in the Spring is as perfect as the full-blown blossom in the height of Summer, and even the dried up plant in the Fall is a perfect part (aspect?) of the glorious process of being a plant.
And maybe the aches and stiffness come, not only from shrinking from passage through the 'boundaries' of the seasons, but also from trying to drag Summer's blossom with us into the Fall and even Winter, or trying to manifest a blossom in the Spring, when we would be better off noticing and appreciating the perfection of being a sprout.
And further to your point about the ego being more than our present understanding of it, you can see how incongruent we could become if we insist on thinking we are only one rose when, in fact, we are the whole rose bush! [with options on the garden and the gardener ;]

How I Invoke the ‘Speaker’ Layer of Consciousness
I ‘wrote’ this blog using my new dictation software. It is almost
like StarTrek. You just tell the computer to do what you want. I’m
looking forward to a time when I can lie in bed and say, “Computer,
what does (this word) mean? ...and what is the derivation, and give me
a couple of examples of early and contemporary usage while you’re at
it!”
In the meantime MacSpeech is working great and what follows is my
first blog using dictation rather than typing for the first draft...
- - - - -
When I want to do some inner “work” on a particular issue in my life, these are the steps I take:
First I turn my gaze inward and identify my present sense of self.
No, actually the first thing I do is stop whatever else I’m doing and
take a couple of deep breaths - perhaps moving my eyes up towards the
ceiling as I turn my attention inward.
Once I have fixed my inward gaze on my own sense of self in the
present moment, I imagine a glowing pearl of awareness floating in
front of my forehead at my third eye.
Still breathing deeply, and on the out-breath, I move that pearl of
awareness directly into my brain, directly backwards into my brain so
it is superimposed over the pineal gland at the center of my skull.
Pausing here for a deep breath or two, and again on the out-breath,
I move the pearl of awareness deep, deep down into the warm, cozy
depths of the ocean of my body consciousness. At the same time I
visualize the glowing pearl moving down my spine; through my neck, down
through my shoulders, down, down straight down, until it comes to rest
at the level of my heart chakra (see illustration).
Once
it’s here in the heart chakra, the pearl of awareness pulses once and
expands to fill the entire cavity of my physical body (and then expands
beyond it) with warmth and acknowledgment and love and nurturing
support and gratitude and appreciation.
This energy then withdraws back into the pearl of awareness floating and glowing in my chest.
Then, again on the out breath, I visualize the pearl shooting up my
spine and bursting out through the top of my head like a rocket
escaping the gravity of the earth, and streaming through the emptiness
and freedom of deep space.
Eventually, as I rise through this vast gestalt of consciousness, I
begin to sense four slightly converging walls of an immense pyramid. I
zoom upward through this pyramid shape as millions of light-years flash
by, until I enter a 'space' that’s no longer connected to space and
time in the same way as before, and just at this point I exit through
the very, exact, molecular pin-point of the top of the pyramid...
And
“Boing!” we emerge into what I call the heroic dimension, where we have
absolutely unlimited capacities in terms of the physical focus because
we are in a layer of consciousness prior to duality and physical
manifestation. Here we are neither fish nor foul.
We are in a place where straddling contradictions is absolutely
necessary because from this perspective, nothing has quite decided
which way it’s going to come down, as it were. We can travel around
this realm with blinding speed something like those projectiles they
use in Quidditch in the Harry Potter novels. [note to self, google this...]
From within this dimension of my being, I can easily locate the
‘empty space’ I have been cultivating with the CMI practice group. Here
I am sitting in the midst of endless space filled to the brim with
distant galaxies. I have neither human body, nor any form of physical
expression, and can look down through many layers of time and space
until eventually I locate the Milky Way, and then our Solar System, and
finally the Earth floating in space. I can zoom right in to my
hometown, Toronto Canada, and see myself sitting here in my physical
body in my rooms on the Granby Estates.
Once I have activated my awareness in the heroic dimension in this
way, I return my attention to my everyday issues here in the physical,
splitting my attention between the two points of view. [This sounds complicated and difficult, but turns out to be quite easy and familiar in practice.]
Poised
in this delicate balance, I incant my personal trigger word, “inner
workshop”, and immediately find myself in my familiar workspace. I have
constructed this inner workshop for myself over the years, and often
visit to make some adjustments in my consciousness.
Immediately on entering the workshop, I am greeted by numerous aids
and assistants who lead me to a sort of half-reclining massage chair
with a wonderful headrest. From this position and with the assistance
of all the other me’s, [all the assistants look exactly like me except they have white lab coats on.]
Thus ensconced in my inner workshop, I access and activate all
manner of inner tools. These include everything from high-tech computer
screens that show whatever I am interested in. I can also type in
questions and get answers on the screen. [Now I’ve got this great dictating software, I may go to voice control for these guys... just a thought.]
First we address whatever the physical issue might be - this morning
it was tension in my neck and shoulders - so immediately some of the
attendant guys are massaging my neck and shoulders and applying
energetic devices that are very relaxing, healing and nurturing.
Meanwhile I am using various techniques to reveal and absorbe the
message and meaning behind the tension in my neck and shoulders. I
don’t want to miss the treasure buried in these symptoms you see, by
just deleting them without regard. So I open myself to the meaning of
the tension and appreciatively acknowledge it as enormously valuable
feedback about how I’m creating my realities these days here in this
physical dimension.
[All of reality could be thought of as reality-creation feedback,
or perhaps as the answer in three-dimensional terms, to whatever
questions we are asking ourselves currently.]
As
I engaged this process myself this morning I got the image of a lion.
Sort of like a medallion with the sculpture in high relief of a lion’s
face with open jaws. It was like a big ornamental relief sculpture and
it was rising up out of my chest and the feeling I got was a lion
rising up and trying to express itself and then coming back around not
having fulfilled that fully, and coming back around and then trying
again...
Once we have opened ourselves and tried to absorb as much of the
meaning as possible, then I start giving myself SMART suggestions about
how my body is feeling particularly vital and alive, and all the
muscles of my body are relaxed and comfortable, and in particular my
neck and spine, shoulders and back muscles are all loosie-goosie, and
flexible and liquid and flowing...
As I give myself these suggestions inwardly about how my body feels,
I naturally start focusing on my body here in this physical focus, and
my body starts to respond. In this case I found myself spontaneously
standing up straight, my shoulders dropped, my arms went out and I
could feel the energy flowing through my arms and hands, and then my
back flexes and curls. So as I’m giving myself the suggestions, I’m
acting them out with my body.
At this point I exit my workshop and go about whatever I was doing.
It has been my habit lately not to return altogether from the heroic
dimension once I have established myself there. It feels comfortable
for me to leave some of my awareness in that dimension, while the other
half, or more than half, is devoted to focusing on what I’m doing here.
[It turns out there are significant perceptual benefits from having a foot in each realm.]
In the heroic dimension I have access to primordial streams of
consciousness that make up the River of Meaning out of which ultimately
everything else is constructed. [In certain areas of consciousness
there are these huge rivers of energy coming together, think huge tree
trunks intertwining, only billions of them, and they are gigantic and
seem to go on forever... ]
Each of these currents of knowledge and consciousness contains the
primordial feeling/meaning tones and structures that are then
interpreted by us through all the myriad languages in between so they
become accessible to us in our focal awareness.
- - - - -
In
addition to the Speaker layer within our consciousness, Kris has also
introduced the idea of Rahunas which are movements of energy we can
sense right here in our focal state of awareness, but with our inner
senses underneath our normal perceptions. Kris gives the analogy of a
pond. Once something emerges on the surface of the pond it has entered
our worldview, so to speak, and has been translated by our natural
processes into something we recognize.
Rahunas are movements of energy we can sense even in the normal
waking state of a focal awareness, that are primodial to this dimension
in that they have not yet been translated into an actual intuition or
feeling or observation or insight or whatever. [Just outside the periphery of our ordinary perception.]
The fact that they are only partially perceived means that they are
not yet limited by our preconceptions. They are only partially
expressed which means that they still contain the influences of, and
the gateways to, unformed and even inchoate constellations of meaning
and feeling that offer rich perceptual rewards.
Once we have identified the presence of these Rahunas, we switch our
attention to the heroic dimension where we have direct access to
foundational energy flows in their unformed state.
From this perspective we have access to the meaning and feelings
behind our focal experience in a much richer way because we can see and
understand the constantly shifting significance of these movements of
energy, while they still have all the fragile, subtle qualities and
fascinating inter-relationships that must, by necessity, be chopped off
to some degree when these energies resolve all their delicious
paradoxes and ambiguity, and emerge fully into physical manifestation. [you can't be black AND white here]
- - - - -
So there it is, straight off the dictation software, cleaned up of course...
btw - I am finding that straddling these two states of
consciousness gives me a stance vis-à-vis my everyday life that is
spectacularly more expansive and meaningful than having all my
consciousness eggs in one basket, so to speak. For my money, this stuff
is actually starting to work!

Johnny Trance - Registered Hypnotherapist
John Hawkins (R)Ht - (Soon to be Registered) Hypnotherapist, also CCC*
This hypnotherapist-guy is a spanking new aspect of my personality
that has just recently showed up on the porch of my life as it were,
like a hobo shows up expecting to be fed. I have passed the set
examination with a score well above the required 80%, and merely await
confirmation of my registration with ARCH, the national body here in
Canada.
This article may turn out to be something of a ‘caveat emptor’, in
the sense that I am putting the World on notice that I have been
approved by Official Reality, to hypnotize folks and make suggestions
directly to their subconscious. [These things are not to be trifled with.]
I am reminded of the Hypnotic Paradox; the client has free will,
even in trance, but they willingly give it up to the hypnotist,
trusting them to act wisely and compassionately on their behalf.
Likewise
we all have free will, as the conscious 10% of ourselves, but we
happily give some of it up to our larger selves because we trust our
neo-conscious to always act in our best interest.
[At one level I have to just trust myself to BE who I am, or we get nowhere, no matter how hard we think we are trying.]
- - - - -
Rather than dealing with weight loss and tension headaches - not to
take anything away from the glories of administering nobly and
helpfully to these areas of interest - my plan is to offer coaching to
people who want to create their own realities more consciously.
*Conscious Creation Coach (CCC)- this is the plan and
Hypnosis will be one of the many tools along with EFT, Aspect Therapy,
‘Avatar’ and various other Yogas, my own Belief Negotiation
techniques... [and whatever else shows up and proves useful.]
Millions of people saw “The Secret” and immediately started
fantasizing about a hot car or their dream home only to wake up one day
and realize that nothing was happening. They were still driving a cab
for tips and living in a flop house. [Ok, that’s probably an exaggeration, paying down a mortgage and living in the burbs is more like it]
The unfortunate part of this is that a lot of people blame
themselves for their failure and “What’s wrong with me?” is never a
helpful attitude for anyone to take at any time. Think for a moment
about the implications of this attitude for conscious creation. [If we
are looking for what is wrong with us, what do you think we will find,
sooner or later?]
Really understanding this and taking it to heart, carries with it a
large unspoken responsibility; where we choose to place our attention,
and with what attitude, results in the kinds of realities we create for
ourselves and those around us, to experience.
[Yeah, we’re getting it. What we choose or allow ourselves to think about IS our responsibility, nothing less!]
- - - - -
Who We Are and How the World Works
Just ask yourself this question, “How would my behavior and
attitude change if I knew that everything I said and did, everything I
expressed energetically, boomeranged back to me as my own experience of
reality?”
What would you choose, right now, if you knew you were creating, not
just your own reality, not just the realities that all your friends and
loved ones share with you, but worlds upon worlds of living
possibilities shared by uncounted beings at uncounted layers of
consciousness?
It turns out that, by definition, the reach of our responsibility
goes beyond the know universe and into areas of ourselves that are
beyond our present focus and significantly beyond the reach of our
present perception and understanding.
This means we are responsible, even though we don’t consciously know
how or why, we are responsible for the world we find around us. If we
read about famine in Africa, we are responsible. If we see a TV show
about the plight of the polar bear, we are responsible.
What we have been thinking of as the outside world, is actually a
projection or reflection of our own inner representations of ourselves
and how we see the world.
Even though we create our own reality, we have to come from
somewhere, and where we come from is our inner attitudes and feelings
about who we are and how the world works.

Different Layers of Consciousness
Hypnosis is a fascinating topic and I am full of it because I am
just finishing an eight week course in becoming a certified
hypnotherapist. The average person [should we ever find her] is fairly ignorant of the actual qualities of hypnotic states.
My own way of describing it is in the context of ‘mobility of
consciousness’. The idea is that we can move around in our own
consciousness to various different layers. And each layer has different
strengths and weaknesses. Each layer has access to different resources
and opportunities.
In casual conversation we have figured out about four different
layers of consciousness that every human visits almost every day. The
sleep state, the normal waking state, meditation, and self-induced
alpha states (hypnosis). There are undoubtedly many more and a whole
discipline could be devoted to investigating this.
The reason I took this course is that I believe that hypnosis is the
discipline that focuses most directly on consciously changing the state
of consciousness you are in for particular purposes. Where else do we
find this expertise in our society? [everywhere actually, I am thinking of barbers, dentists and entertainers for a start, not to mention a much older profession ;]
We
have the ability to move in our state of consciousness to the location
that is most suitable for what we want to accomplish. For instance,
there is nothing like the normal waking state for noticing and appreciating the richness of our experiences in this physical dimension.
On the other hand the dream state is extraordinary in the
range of realities and experiences we can access. The possibilities go
way beyond physical reality because in our dreams we are not nearly so
attached to the limitations we have chosen for this dimension.
The downside is that dreams do not seem to have any dependable
relationship with what’s happening in our outer lives. Dreams are so
free of structural restrictions that they are pretty far removed from
the everyday realities we face when we are awake.
Meditation is a wonderful trance state we can all learn to
enter at will. It is typified by very healing acceptance of self and at
least temporary release of many unnecessary tensions and attachments.
The issue here is that this is not a place to exert one’s decisiveness
in service of one’s intentions. Meditation is all about acceptance and
allowance, not choices and action.
A profoundly powerful layer of consciousness accessible to us all, is a self-induced hypnotic trance.
The power of this state is that we are able to talk directly to the
sub- or neo-conscious. Suggestions we make to ourselves in these states
are gobbled up by the subjective awareness and transferred to our
reality creation mechanisms immediately. The only downside here is 'do not operate heavy machinery' while in these states.
- - - - -
What this means is that if we want to say affirmations to ourselves
in the normal waking state, that may produce some results
eventually. But if we want to really mainline a suggestion into the
neo-conscious, we should put ourselves into an auto-hypnotic state.
Likewise if we want to relax and allow stuff and rejuvenate
ourselves, a meditative state is ideal. Whereas if we want to assess a
situation, make some careful observations and then some choices, we
should be in the normal waking state. This is where our ego is most
focused on the outer experience of life in this dimension.
Eventually I see a time when
every family will have not only a healer, but also a specialist in the
mobility of consciousness, perhaps one and the same. The potential that
is revealed when we discover that different energetic expressions at
different layers of consciousness produce different results in our
reality, is quite ‘beyond the beyond’.
[when will mathematicians and physicists allow consciousness into their equations?]

You Create Your Own Reality - 101
All the ‘dead guys’ are adamant about this point, we create our own
reality. It is as though this is an idea whose time has come. Science,
weather, cartoons, presidential elections, they all point to the fact
that we create our own reality.
It was Seth, channeled by Jane Roberts who first coined this phrase
but it has grown to define a movement in consciousness that is only
gathering strength in this new millennium.
Just being ‘alive and kicking’ steers our reality creation
mechanisms in whatever direction we concentrate our attention. This is
our power as expressions of Source in this physical dimension.
Ok, so let’s talk for a moment about the mechanics of reality
creation and why it is so significant for us to begin to accept our
role and responsibility in the creation of our own reality. [What might at first blush seem like a burden turns out to be the ultimate freedom so please bear with me.]
If you create your own reality, as all the ‘dead guys’ tell us, you
are creating the one you’re experiencing right now. This is not
something you can stop doing, or fail to do, or screw up in any way.
This is not a superpower we can turn on and off.
In each moment, without exception, we each immaculately create our
own reality without thought or effort, and there’s really nothing we
can do about it at that level. It is an inherent characteristic of our
being.
Of
course we have free will and can pretend with uncanny convincingness
that we are a victim of our realities, or ‘the devil made me do it’, or
whatever rationalization we might choose to deny our innate powers and
settle for a reality we don’t like.
This basic fact of how we create our lives here in the physical
takes nothing away from the deeply angelic and metaphysical meaning of
the experiences we create for ourselves. Of course it’s all about the
metaphorical meaning, and the inchoate feelings, and the myriad
relationships, and the awesome realizations that allow us to unscrew
the inscrutable. This is all true and of immense value.
But there is something refreshing, almost astringent, about
accepting as a simple mechanical fact that where we point our
attention, living realities start spinning off and streaming towards us
to experience if we choose.
[We, each of us, are the captain of our ship, and the resources
and potential of the entire universe, known and unknown, lie poised and
waiting to manifest 'more of' whatever we choose to point our attention at.]
If you are starting to think this is a rather egotistical thing,
this creating our own reality, keep in mind that where you end up
focusing your attention on any given day is only about half your
choice. The other half is the pattern of familiar and interesting
things your reality does all day long that capture your attention.
This is the alarm in the morning followed by the coffee and drive to
work, the red lights and green, everything that we place our attention
on during the day, followed by a trip to the pub for a couple of short
ones and a couple of hours in front of the TV after dinner.
Our neo-conscious provides this daily pattern of focal points to
allow us to effortlessly redefine our world by affirming the necessary
beliefs, assumptions and conventions that allow our everyday world to
reconstruct itself with the ideal levels of continuity and novelty.
These daily patterns of attention, mostly directed by our
neo-conscious, direct our reality creation mechanisms just as much as
the ‘conscious’ choices we make as a self-aware ego construction.
The good thing is that our neo-conscious mind is absolutely open to
input from us about what kinds of experiences we want to have. In fact
the neo-conscious actually looks to us for guidance and direction in
this. Such is our power.

Hypnosis Homework - Weight Loss Protocol - November 14, 2008 - John Hawkins
My homework is to create a protocol for the hypnotic treatment of
weight loss. Of course, this raises many, many issues. Only a few of
the most salient of which can be addressed here.
The basic plan is to use Krasner’s lovely process, including the
Benefits Approach right up front for developing SMART suggestions with
the client. If it seems appropriate, we can use age regression for
the therapy.
Desensitizing the ISE and then engaging the Informed Child to help
release the emotional energy blocked up in opposing the event. The plan
is to open up new choices for the client in their nows that are much
more in harmony with their preferences.
Simply guiding the client’s attention to hitherto blocked areas of
normal human perception is enormously balancing and healing because the
natural energetic signature of our Ego Construction zeros and
neutralizes any system it enters. [this is part of Energetics 101,
whenever you energize a new system, or one that has come online after a
long interval, you naturally zap everything to make sure all systems
are ‘go’.]
Using established finger signals - or better yet - vocal response,
we ask the client in light to medium trance to aid us in divining an
understanding of the issues. Did it happen before or after...? Are we ready to release the problem? Is it done now or will it take a few moments?
Then the Informed Child revisits the original traumatizing event, bringing a new, broader perspective. Who
knew we create our own lives? Who knew our physical bodies and the very
events of our lives are an outward expression of our own thoughts,
feelings and actions?
As adroitly as possible at this point, we insert the client’s own
SMART suggestions from the Benefits Approach done earlier. We may also
add some helpful suggestions of our own about valuing and empowering
self, being curious and expressive about our experiences - not to
mention our unlimited potential!
When the client comes out of trance, to the count of 3 for instance,
we welcome them and give them some few minutes to gather and
reconnoiter themselves in this new configuration. We may find ourselves
welcoming this few moments as well, giving us an opening to pause and
reconsider the whole affair, and even reorient ourselves in the most
favorable context to our own emerging intentions and preferences.
Eventually though, we find ourselves asking them to revisit the issue. Are they are ready and eager to express their new selves?
Then we test them as best we can. Are they still triggered in the same
way by the issue of ‘weight loss’ and are they still discontent with
their present bodily configuration?
Only by acknowledging and acting on our present
understanding, does our perception widen. We cannot fool ourselves
anymore, or pretend that such-and-such is not so-and-so. We are past
all that. [The writing is blazing across the walls all around us, and it’s all we can do to keep up!]

Email comments on a dream about transition and acceptance
Excerpt from original email:
The strongest feelings during the dream were ones of
opposition and acceptance all at once, and the warmth and close
feelings toward my bride. She seemed to exist in an emotional sense,
though I can't recall any of her features.
I'm open to other interpretations as well, in case anyone thinks of any.
Hi [correspondent]
As I re-read your account this afternoon a couple of things popped up...
There is an obvious male-female dynamic... and I recalled what are
often called 'plumbing' issues that women are thought to be prone to in
some quarters... [This is all about female biology and the accompanying emotional, cultural, and symbolic associations.]
I see you accepting your feminine energies pragmatically, even
though you may feel at some levels that this is not really necessary,
or need not apply to you...
Your attraction to being with the 'bride' speaks volumes, and your
repeated willingness to accept what you don't particularly want - even
going on record as not preferring it, thank you very much - also speaks
volumes about acceptance and allowance that is very instructive...
[When
we can accept that we have intentionally and lovingly created an event,
even though we personally detest it and all it's implications in this
particular now, when we accept that we have created something, we
automatically move to a perspective that allows us to see a slightly
bigger picture on things - including whatever the issue was that
triggered our getting to this lovely state...]
How wonderful to see that you are willing to overlook even what
might once have been seen as a 'criminal trespass', in support of
allowing a balanced and harmonious dwelling for the much anticipated
union of you and your bride... Lovely.
Kris has said that we create an arena for our explorations in this
physical dimension by a careful and complex interplay of opposing and
allowing energies. Thus accepting that we have created what we don't
want, on the one hand, and also accepting the fact that we oppose our
own comfort and complacency, is perfectly natural to the processes we
have engaged in this dimension.
The Shift seems to be about the re-emergence of the feminine
energetically and we males may have our work cut out for us, so to
speak... So well done!

Moving Around in Consciousness
This idea has crystalized for me just lately. I have previously
written about this as ‘mobility of consciousness’ and I thought a
diagram might add a nice layer.
This was brought into focus for me again recently by a synchronicity
last Thursday. I was getting ready to go to the Kris radio show I
co-host with Mark Bukator, Reality by Design.
I happened to read a short passage in Jane Robert’s book, Psychic Politics,
describing her idea that the state of consciousness we are in is a
crucial component of whatever we are experiencing in any particular now.
She describes being downtown in front of a bank. While she is
experiencing a heightened level of awareness, including greatly
enriched sensory perception, the person on the sidewalk beside her,
supposedly experiencing the same reality, might have been thinking
about lunch.
What
transpired was that this precise idea was addressed explicitly by Kris
in the radio show. Where we go to in our state of consciousness is
crucial to how we are perceiving 'reality', and what resources we allow ourselves
access to. I have understood for some time that where we place our
attention is where our material creation energies go to create our
experiences. I had not been framing this as moving around to actual
different 'areas' of consciousness though, in the way Kris seems to
suggest.
To illustrate this idea, let's think of consciousness as an immense
condo development, continuously being renovated, with a million rooms
that each permit uniquely specific and perhaps undreamed of
possibilities. Any change in our lives from this perspective, is
actually just moving from one room to another within this vast gestalt
of consciousness.
Practical Uses of This Idea
Go to the 'room' in consciousness that has the best tools and most helpful vantage point for what you want to accomplish. [If you want to cook dinner don't go to the attic and expect everything to fall into place.]
The Glories of The Normal Waking State
If you want to relish the reality you have created, experience it
fully, and make choices about where you want to go next, you need to be
in the normal waking state.
The Curious and Surprising Powers of Various Trance States
If you want to suggest a few things to your neo-conscious having to
do with what you want to happen next in your life, it is much more
efficient to be in a self-directed trance state.
[what I am learning is that it can also be immensely useful to
'straddle' these two states, including perhaps even the dream state.
This meta-stance cannot fail to provide spectacular new perspectives
and potentialities]
