Who owns this list? - this list was founded under the auspices of Seth Network Int’l. The List Administrator is Paul Helfrich, a volunteer who agreed to nurture and facilitate this list.

For more info on the history of Sethnet, see A Brief, Probable History of Sethnet.

How long has this list been active? - our cyber-doors opened on October 01, 1998. We were first hosted by the onelist.com service, which morphed into the eGroups.com service, and then the Yahoo! Groups service. All of these are free services.

What is Seth Network Int’l. agenda? - SNI was a nonprofit company dedicated to exploring the Seth/Jane Roberts material. Its purpose was to act as a point of contact for Seth readers and to create a forum for discussion of the Seth material. As of October 01, 1999 SNI has gone into inactive status. For more information visit SNI on the World Wide Web at http://www.sethnet.org/

What is the primary focus of this list? - to provide a forum in which to explore the ideas contained in the 40-plus books published by Seth/Jane Roberts, meet birds of a feather, share personal stories, and nurture a growing global community. Oh yes, and to have fun as we pursue our “value fulfillment” in the process!

However, membership in Sethnet is a privilege, not a right. By subscribing to Sethnet you agree to observe the following tenets intended to help focus the list, reduce clutter, improve readability, and eliminate flames:

  1. Please keep your posts relevant to the ideas expressed throughout the Seth/Jane Roberts's books.
  2. When posting any supporting material, please keep it relevant to the primary focus of this list.
  3. Proselytizing is not allowed. Everyone is welcome to their opinions and interpretations, but the spirit of Sethnet is to foster an environment where folks don't feel intimidated by rants, bullying, and endless repetition.
  4. Refrain from personal attacks and abusive language = use constructive criticism (for example, criticize the logic, veracity, motives, ethics, or interpretation), not destructive criticism (for example, personally attack any individual, their writing style/spelling, use scat invective, post private emails without permission, etc.)
  5. Please trim off unnecessary text and tag lines before sending a reply. It makes posts easier to read and reduces clutter.
  6. Use the subject line to indicate the actual content of your post. Ensure that your REPLY relates to the subject header in the original post, or else CHANGE the subject header to reflect a new direction.
  7. It’s OK to post information on any commercial product or service as long as it has something to do with the work of Seth/Jane Roberts. (For example, a book, tape, CD, seminar, etc.)

We encourage people to think before they react, and then if necessary, attempt to resolve offensive situations offlist via private email. This list is really a mirror that offers a golden opportunity to learn about ourselves, our beliefs, and the many ways we each create our own realities.

Also, there are other public conscious creation-related lists that explore channeling phenomena, energetic exercises, and other channeled bodies of work. We support them by posting their addresses on our resource pages.

What is CCSearch? - CCSearch is a growing database of the very best Seth-related webpages out there! CCSearch stands for the Conscious Creation Search Engine. It is like a mini-Yahoo! or Lycos search engine that contains only hand-picked webpages that combine the themes of conscious creation, the Seth Material, and the perennial philosophy:

Why is there so much banter at times, when I’d prefer more focused conversations?

In any email list, there is a group of people who get to know each other and create a group history together. This ongoing process is tempered by new subscribers constantly joining and leaving. So what you have is a mix of Seth readers at various levels of understanding and integration. So its up to each one of us to focus the conversations by communicating our desires, understanding or lack thereof.

Some tips: if you want a more focused – that is, focused in some way that YOU feel is appropriate for YOU, list – then exercise your point of power, step up to the plate, and do your best to focus a thread.

What are some good books for beginners interested in the Seth Material?

Lynda Dahl, ex-president of Seth Network Int’l., has authored several excellent books that offer her own interpretations of Seth/Jane’s ideas in every day English in the context of her own personal experiences. A great place to start.

Ten Thousand Whispers

Ten Thousand Whispers: A Guide to Conscious Creation, Windsong Publishing, 1995.

The Book of Fallacies

The Book of Fallacies, Moment Point Press, 2001.

Recommended Seth-related books by Jane Roberts: get Jane’s perspective on Seth’s ideas and her own experiences with altered neurological focus. They are easy to read, full of insight, and present Jane’s own theory – called Aspect Psychology – that lays a foundation for understanding all paranormal events including altered states and projection of consciousness.

The Seth Material

The Seth Material, Buccaneer Books, 1995.

Adventures in Consciousness

Adventures in Consciousness: An Introduction to Aspect Psychology, Sethnet Publishing, 1997.

The OverSoul Seven Trilogy

The Oversoul Seven Trilogy, Amber-Allen Publishing, 1995. (these books are novels that skillfully weave all of Seth’s basic ideas into fictional stories; highly recommended!)

Recommended Seth-dictated books by Jane Roberts: these are the beginner’s books, though somewhat “technical.” They are guaranteed to challenge your notions of metaphysics and the perennial philosophy. I recommend the following:

Seth Speaks

Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul, Amber-Allen Publishing, 1994.

The Nature of Personal Reality

The Nature of Personal Reality, Amber-Allen Publishing, 1994.

How Can I Manage Too Many Emails? There are three main ways to receive emails when you join Sethnet:

1. Individual emails.

2. Daily Digest.

3. No email.

There are two basic strategies to manage high volumes of email:

1. Set your Sethnet account to “No Email.” This way you read and respond from the Yahoo! website. BUT, you can only read and send emails while connected to the Internet.

2. OR “Digest.” You'll receive a SINGLE email containing up to 25 emails. When the list gets busy, you'll get 5-6 emails a day rather than 125-150! These you read and send from your computer.

How? Simple:

1. Go to the Sethnet home page:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sethnet/

2. Then click, “Edit my membership” in the upper right. You’ll get a new page (you may have to enter your password).

3. Scroll down to “Message Delivery” and choose either: Individual emails OR Daily Digest OR No email.

4. Be sure to click “Save Changes” at the bottom to update your account. Ta Da!

Advanced Users Tip:

This works with “Individual Emails” or “Digests.”

1. Create a new folder in your email software, call it Sethnet (or whatever).

2. Use the “create rule” function to forward all emails into that folder.

This is a more advanced strategy, but one we all evolve toward the more we use email. This way, you can receive a couple of hundred emails a day, and have them ALL go to various folders, and manage them that way. You'll have a basic inbox where new stuff comes, but the regular stuff that you like would get forwarded into those private folders. And you can read or delete them at your leisure ON YOUR computer.

What is lurking and who are lurkers? - lurking is an old, by Internet standards anyway, term that refers to people who join an email list but only read the posts. Some choose to be offended by this practice. We encourage it for several reasons. First and foremost, it’s a good way to learn about the feeling tone of the list see if it meets your needs. Second, we recognize that most of the “activity” on this list occurs in non-physical frameworks of consciousness anyway. As there is no separation or outside, everyone, every thought, adds to the interactions here.

What are some of the most common threads that get discussed here? - to date we have hashed out various healing modalities, all manner of relationship issues, 2075 probabilities, the nine families of consciousness, abundance, personal relationships, the environment, meat eaters/vegetarians, the environment, probabilities, the focus of the list, tips on channeling/other altered states, aliens/UFOs, movies that reflect the Sethian perspective, much, much humor is posted, various creative expressions including poetry and short stories/allegories, lurkers, various non-conferences and conferences, all supported with lots of Seth/Jane quotes.
