Events » Past Events » Welcome to the Sethnet Email List Survival Guide!
Tip: you may wish to print this out and keep it useful place.
1. The primary focus of this list: provide a forum to explore the ideas contained in the 40-plus books published by Seth/Jane Roberts, meet birds of a feather, share personal stories, and nurture a growing global community. Oh yes, and to have fun as we pursue our “value fulfillment” in the process!
However, membership in Sethnet is a privilege, not a right. By subscribing to Sethnet you agree to observe the following tenets intended to help focus the list, reduce clutter, improve readability, and eliminate flames:
- Please keep your posts relevant to the ideas expressed throughout the Seth/Jane Roberts's books.
- When posting any supporting material, please keep it relevant to the primary focus of this list.
- Refrain from personal attacks and abusive language = use constructive criticism (for example, criticize the logic, veracity, motives, ethics, or interpretation), not destructive criticism (for example, personally attack any individual, their writing style/spelling, use scat invective, post private emails without permission, etc.)
- Please trim off unnecessary text and tag lines before sending a reply. It makes posts easier to read and reduces clutter.
- Use the subject line to indicate the actual content of your post. Ensure that your REPLY relates to the subject header in the original post, or else CHANGE the subject header to reflect a new direction.
- It’s OK to post information on any commercial product or service as long as it has something to do with the work of Seth/Jane Roberts. (For example, a book, tape, CD, seminar, etc.)

4. Helpful participation hints:
· If you are not sure about participating in this
email list, the best way to learn about it is to sign up and “lurk.”
You can then follow the postings without actively participating. You will gain a feel for the appropriate kinds of postings and people involved before you decide to participate.
· If you are new to this list, on your first post please
introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about how you came to be interested
in Seth/Jane Roberts. If you have a personal web page include your web
address (that http://www.yada.yada… thing).
· If you reply to a message, please edit/delete any unnecessary
tag/signature lines or egroups commercials at the bottom of the post. This
helps to keep messages smaller and increases the likelihood that someone
will read all of your post.
· If you write a long post, you might put [long] in the
subject line so people know it’s a long one.
· Sanity Saver tip #1: list traffic fluctuates between
25 – 125 messages (1 – 5 Digests) per day. So repeat after me, “I don’t
have to read every message every day.” Trust that you will be attracted
to messages that will help you notice and deal with your own issues/beliefs
and let the rest go. You can always find what you “missed” in the archives
later.
· Sanity Saver tip #2: if list traffic is too heavy for
your tastes, you can change from single messages to Digests (1 – 5 emails
per day). If the list is too much, instead of unsubscribing, you can just
change your egroups account to No Mail (see item #3 Useful Features for
how to do this). This way you won’t need to resubscribe to the Sethnet
list, but just change back (uncheck) the No Mail setting.

· Netiquette, or Net etiquette, is the “root assumptions” of common courtesy that have “evolved” during the past ten years for people who use the Internet. Some conventions:
- WRITING IN ALL CAPS IS EQUIVALENT TO SHOUTING!!!
- Writing in lower case is considered a regular conversational tone.
- Sometimes you may wish to reply to someone privately instead of the
entire list.
- Sometimes you may wish to include only the portion of the email that
you are responding to, as this reduces clutter.
· For more information on Netiquette visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette
