Miss Blake Interviews Mark Allen Frost
Editor's Note: Mark Allen Frost is a channeler who claims to be channeling the same Seth entity as Jane Roberts did so many years ago. The staff of the SNJ makes no judgements as to the accuracy of Mark's claims, but we present this interview so that you the reader may decide for yourself. If you are interested in exploring the matter further, you should read the Magical Blend interview with Cas Smith/Seth and visit the Seth Returns Website
MB: Greetings Mark. How did the channeling process begin? In particular, who is Cas and what is she doing now? Was the 9/11 book channeled entirely by Cas Smith/Seth or was it a combination of Cas Smith and yourself?
Mark I met Cas during the final few months of my Masters Degree Program in Counseling Psychology. I was doing my internship on the campus, as a counselor to students and staff.
To support my family I was also providing Hypnotherapy services to people in the community in my own practice off campus. Cas and I met at my Hypnotherapy office at her request. We completely hit it off together. She identified herself as an artist and housewife. It was obvious to me after meeting her that we were going to do some sort of collaboration, possibly a book on Past Lives, though I knew very little about the subject.
She knew quite a bit, it seemed. Before our second meeting she phoned me and asked if I had heard of Seth. Someone calling himself Seth was speaking to her in her meditations. I had been a student of Seth for many years, though I was not an active reader of the material for the previous 10 years. I asked if we could try to bring Seth “out in the open” through hypnosis. She agreed to try it and we met a few days later in my office.
I hypnotized her and asked Seth to come through. He did come through, identified himself, gave us some information regarding a local public health issue. Then he spoke of the genesis of this collaboration in past lives, answered some test questions regarding his first subject and her husband, and then made an appointment to meet and begin creating a book on the events of 9/11.
We met a few days later and through Cas, Seth began to dictate his new messages. I took down the dictation in my word processing software on my office computer. In a few months we had the material we needed. Cas and I edited the book. Seth had put the material “into our heads” so that we could both edit. Cas’ main condition for participating in the project was anonymity. She did not want to go out and promote the book or answer questions from the public or have her privacy violated in any way. When the printing of the book began to linger on into the weeks and months, Cas separated from the business and Seth began dictating Book Two through me.
As far as our contributions are concerned, Cas and I are members of The Seth Entity. Seth has stated to Cas and I on several occasions that he directed her to me and “set up” the circumstances of our probable meeting. The book on 9/11 is a mutual production of Seth, Cas, and myself. The second book is my and Seth’s production. Cas is pursuing her varied interests at this time. She does not want to be contacted by anyone concerning the Seth project. I respect her rights in this matter.
MB: If a 'handover' has taken place, did you feel any reservations when it happened? Is there someone else who transcribes your notes for you? If so would it be possible for the energy to speak through that person?
Mark: There was not a “handover” as much as there was simply an immediate increase in responsibilities for me. Seth mentioned to me later that he foresaw the probable changes – Cas withdrawing from the collaboration - but did not want to cause me any more anxiety than I was already experiencing with the hold-up in printing the book and other matters.
I had asked Seth a few times in the first year of the collaboration if it would make sense to dictate through both of us on separate days in the week. We could put out twice as much material that way. He asked me to slow down and “go with the flow.” He said that these matters would resolve themselves in the coming months.
I had no reservations about the changes. Channeling the Seth messages is biggest high I’ve ever experienced. I literally experience ecstasy when I am in contact with Seth, my Energy Personality. This material has the potential to transform planetary consciousness and I feel honored to be the bridge between Seth’s world and ours.
As we discuss in both books, I took dictation from Seth through Cas for the 9/11 book. For the Second book I transcribed his telepathic messages into notebooks with pen and ink, through my word processing software on my computer via the keyboard, and into the audio system of my video camera when I channeled in public. By the way, when I channel Seth before an audience, some people successfully “tune in” and apparently hear his telepathic messages as I am hearing them. And they definitely feel his presence.
MB: Jane Roberts wrote extensively about her own skepticism regarding her many psychic abilities. She spent years testing, visiting psychologists and such, to come to her own conclusions about whether she had some kind of pathology, gift, or both. What do you feel about her approach to her abilities?
Mark: I think it is healthy to have skepticism regarding one’s own manifestations or reality creations, particularly when they are as spectacular and strange as those I am experiencing, Cas experienced, and Seth’s first subject experienced. As I mentioned, I have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. To earn that degree I spent many hours assessing clients for mental illness. I am continually assessing my own cognitive functioning. For instance, I know that I do not have Disociative Personality Disorder (once called Multiple Personality Disorder) or any Axis I or Axis II disorders.
In my opinion we ALL have many psychic abilities, and it is not useful to canonize people for simply demonstrating this fact. Her approach to her abilities was, I think, quite appropriate for her. My own process is different. I am a different personality. I am more drawn to seeking confirmation from within rather than some outside “authority.”
MB: Were you ever skeptical about your source when it said it was the same "Seth"?
Mark: Yes. In the beginning I was skeptical. It seemed too outrageous to be true. As I mention in my introduction in Book One, I felt as though someone was “pranking” me as a rite of passage into the field of Counseling Psychology.
Over time, however, it became very obvious that Seth had returned. He said that he would put the material “into my head” as I slept, and the following few nights I awakened with memories of whole sections of new Seth material. Then later in the week in my office he dictated to me this new material through Cas. I recognized it as verbatim the material he “put into my head.”
This controversy over whether it is the same “Seth” seems rather nonproductive to me. I suppose it is because I am experiencing the phenomenon of Seth coming through me to answer my personal questions, questions for the book, and questions for the business. This is the ultimate proof to me that it is Seth. Seth and I have just completed our first joint enterprise, The Next Chapter in the Evolution of the Soul. In the book he updates many of his concepts. This is a book dictated by the real Seth, THE Seth, Seth – the energy personality essence.
MB: Jane took the time to access the worldview of Paul Cezanne and material on Rembrandt is waiting to be published. Do you have any similar interests and does the material you have give any pointers to the role art plays in the present generation? In particular what (if anything) does Seth say is necessary for artists to express at this time?
Mark: I think of myself as an artist and of course I am interested in the whole Sethian concept of humans as artists whose bodies and environments are co-created with All That Is. I’m interested in some ideas Seth has been speaking about recently concerning the art of the future that will be transformative and healing. The colors and materials will be therapeutic and the participants will be able to catalyze their own healing abilities through interacting with the art. The responsibility of the artist currently is to create art of peace to counter the technocracy of war. Seth is asking to come through here. I said he could come through if he thought it was appropriate:
Seth – “Now, as I have recently suggested to Mark, my first subject and I may create a book together with him on the uses of art in the Home Dimension. This is the realm of the after-death experience. My first subject resides in her Home Dimension currently and she believes that that it would be interesting to attempt this collaboration. In the Home Dimension, thoughts are immediately transformed into images and holographic realities. This is how the departed create for viewing, certain dramatizations of reincarnational experiences to decide for themselves whether lessons were learned appropriately or that perhaps a return to Earth is required. I am sorry for the interjection Mark. I will retreat to my advisory capacity. (humorously)
Mark: Ok Seth has left the building. He has recently told me of his first subject’s desire to create a book. I’m willing, but we have two other books to create first. So we shall see.
MB: The term "nefarious entities" is used in your channeling in reference to entities who are roaming the Astral Plane that would love to misguide humanity: Could you elaborate on this?
Mark: Yes, this was mainly Cas’ creation, the Magical Blend interview, and the subject is covered extensively in the 9/11 book. But Seth does cover the subject in his book on Soul Evolution, so here is what I know: Consciousness creates reality, and in the words of the quantum physicists, “everything that CAN happen DOES happen.”
So from the activity of consciousness expressed in physical and non-physical reality, not only are the physical constructs created and reinforced over “time” but also the non-physical constructs are created and reinforced. Good thoughts - positive loving thoughts - create and reinforce physical and non-physical constructs. So Beings of Light such as Seth and countless other beings exist. The Negative Entities exist as well, as sort of the “flip-side” of Beings of Light.
These are Nefarious Entities that feed off of negative emotions such as fear, anger, and anxiety. Negative emotions have created them and they are sustained on negative emotions. They are drawn to our negative emotional states and like parasites they feed off of this energy. They literally develop a “life of their own.” They are rampant, these Negative Entities, currently. Seth maintains this is why the U.S. is falling apart, from the inside out. If you read the books you will get a description from Seth that is far superior to my own. I think this is related to the concept that what you most fear will be drawn to you. Of course it follows that what you most love will be drawn to you too!
MB: You spoke of 'The Seth Entity.' Is there a difference between this and the Jane-Rob-Seth entity that most people are familiar with? Many see 'Seth' as a distinct personality essence. Others see Seth as a psychic construct. Indeed, what you channel would at most be seen as Mark Seth, how do you feel about that?
Mark: The way I see it and the way I understand it from conversations with Seth, is this: Seth is an energy personality essence. Energy, as Seth describes it, is light. Energy is information. He is a messenger from All That Is to Westerners in this timeframe. Essence – Seth expresses the essential personality aspects of his simultaneous lives experienced within the Seth Entity that will be understood and recognized by his readers.
Interestingly though, I think, is the fact that at certain points when I am channeling Seth, my personality aspects totally recede into the background and The Seth Entity energy personality essence we know from his first subject’s writings, comes to the fore. I may be channeling the energy personality essence of Seth’s first subject during these moments.
It is my hope that I will be able to get out of the way enough in these channelings and translate the material “exactly” as Seth expresses it in my mental environment. I said as much in my Introduction in the 9/11 book. As for how anyone else wishes to describe this phenomenon, that would be up to them. Seth calls me his Third Subject. Seth tells me that he is writing books through no one else but me. Seth calls me his agent and his publisher. He calls me The Current Channel for Seth and so do I.
MB: There is a substantial body of existing Jane Seth material out there. What do you feel about it? Do you have a favorite book or set of books you find particularly useful?
-I was a big fan of the old material. I have been reading Seth books since I was a teenager. I am currently 55. At one point I had all of the books including a hardbound copy of Emir’s. But as I said, when Seth came into my life 3 years ago, I was not a regular reader. I had given the Emir’s book to a friend as a gift many years ago. I used to carry a copy of The Nature of Personal Reality around with me. I enjoyed Seth Speaks. Yet since I have been channeling Seth, I have not read any of the older material. I think that might cloud the current work.
MB: Again, given the number of books that have been published do you find that now; there is more that needs to be said?
Mark: Obviously, there is much more that needs to be said. That is why Seth has returned, to say more. I honestly cannot understand these limiting worldviews in which the old Seth books are seen as definitive and the only works we require. And it seems to follow that just talking about Seth’s ideas is enough.
Talking is not enough. That is why he has returned. If the many people who have read his books had put the ideas into motion and made the necessary changes in their lives to move ahead, he would not have to return. In this era of censorship, propaganda, book-burning, cynicism, and hate on all levels within the society, including the cyberculture of the Internet, what NEEDS to be said MUST be said. That’s why we are creating books with Seth, so that he can be heard by a new generation of readers, so that he may again present his ideas upon the world stage. This is all my personal opinion, of course.
MB: Do you feel that the material you channel attracts many skeptics? If so, is this because of the statement attributed to Jane Seth that he/it would not speak through any other? Or is there something more at stake? Would it have been easier if you had not called your channel 'Seth'? Indeed, why call yourself Seth?
Mark: From the feedback I’ve been getting from readers, I would say that about half of the buyers of the 9/11 book have never heard of Seth. They pick it up in a bookstore or check it out on the website and buy it. They like the ideas in the book. The material resonates with their positive beliefs about their lives and their futures.
They are spiritually-minded people. The other half seems to be readers of the old material. They are Sethites old and new. They are excited that Seth has returned. They are eager to read the new books. Some of these readers are leaving messages on my voice mail, offering to help get the books out. I have yet to hear one of these readers mention Seth’s “promise” of long ago.
Among those interested in saying something about our work at Seth Returns Publishing are some “skeptics.” My current definition of this particular type of skeptic is, “One who pronounces a decision prior to investigation.” This is the most heinous form of censorship, I believe, because the skeptics may assume leadership roles and soon it becomes “the blind leading the blind.”
This is an evolutionary dead end. Read Seth’s new material for his explanation of how we cede our authority to people in power and then let them make our decisions for us. We allow these authorities to create realities for us. That is, until we take our power back.
The statement attributed to Seth’s first subject regarding not speaking through any others is certainly that, in my opinion. It is attributed to Seth. By whom is it attributed and in what context? My facts on this matter are this: Seth spoke through no others while his first subject was alive. He has been attempting contact with other members of the Seth Entity since her death with mixed results. Currently he is communicating through me, a member of the Seth Entity, with very good results.
And again, I do not call myself Seth. I am The Current Channel for Seth.
MB: Do you find studying other channelers and their material of any benefit?
Mark: I do like the Michael Teaching for its simplicity and its value as a typology. Kryon seems to be a loving source. Whatever advances our collective humanity and the capacity for loving one another is good material, I think. I’m not as interested in the channelers as I am in the messages. There is a lot of it out there. There are many teachings to choose from.
MB: You use terms like "lower Astral Plane" which Seth/Jane went to great pains to avoid. Seth/Jane felt those terms carried certain dogmatic beliefs and distortions. Could you clarify how these terms are being used now?
Mark: Precisely. Here at SRP we are not going to “great pains” to avoid anything that Seth is telling us. We are receiving messages from Seth and creating books out of these messages. Avoidance, denial, cynicism, negativity, fear – these are states of awareness to be corrected by opening up to one’s multidimensional being.
This is Seth’s message, certainly, as I understand it. However, this reference to the lower Astral Plane was Cas’ as Seth. Her worldview as a result of her upbringing is quite different than mine, and in the second book you will see little of these terms.
I received an agreement from Seth that we would be inclusive in our discussions and mindful of what certain terms can create in the minds of readers. I asked for different terms than “mankind” and all of the related references to Earth beings and all of their deities as male. In the second book you may read Seth’s explanation for my own uneasiness with terms such as “Astral anything.” He maintains that these are ultimately “past life issues.” As you will also notice in the Soul Evolution book, he still includes some of these archaic terms in his descriptions of the various dimensions and energies.
MB: You speak of "Ascended Masters" who are in service to the planet as well as the plans of the "Creator," "Divine Will," and a "spiritual hierarchy." Again, this terminology seems unlike
Jane/Seth. Is this a contradiction with some of Jane/Seth’s basic messages of YCYOR?
Mark: These are the words of Cas as Seth. YCYOR and I would add, in tandem with All That Is, the source for all created realities. To play devil’s advocate: if Seth’s first subject went to such great pains to avoid (censor?) her own muse on topics such as the Astral Planes and other esoteric matters, how do we really know what his first subject actually said? What was edited out?
Again, I repeat, editing for punctuation is pretty much all we do before publication of Seth’s new messages. We are not afraid to put exactly what Seth is saying directly into the manuscript. Do you or the members of your group want your channeled material edited for content? Should it be politically correct according to what the current culture espouses?
Personally, I don’t care for these terms. However, as I work with Seth, particularly over the last year, I am beginning to see his method. I think he is using these terms because he has ALWAYS used these “loaded phrases” in his communications with humanity. He is challenging our belief systems in this way. He has a mischievous sense of humor and I find that it is only much later in the game that I realize that I am being put “on the hot seat.” Often, after I have been less than kind to one of my fellow humans, lost my temper, or in some other way acted like an idiot, I will hear Seth chuckling in the background.
MB: - As a follow-on to that question, do you experience challenges with the application of “you create your own reality” as a philosophy and as a practice? Or is it easier as the years go by?
Mark: It’s the ultimate challenge. It does seem to be getting easier with Seth’s guidance. As you will learn in his second book, when you access your Energy Personality you will also access the resources of the non-physical reality and the Inner Senses. Then as the years go by, you will have that ally and those helping powers to guide you.

Part 2 will be presented in next month's edition of the Sethnet Journal
Doorway in the West
by Donald R. Johnson
I watch the sun vanish below the horizon
Spears of orange light stab into the sky,
and then are gone, leaving afterimages behind.
My spirit, feeling the pressure lessen, sighs
and expands outward. I hear the sound of the
world as it gets ready to move into the night.
There is a glow in the west, luminescent orange
and yellow. The clouds are stacked like terraces,
each a different shade and glowing as if from within.
Some are still white in part, but tinted gold
in places. They seem as if they could be part of
a stairway leading into a glorious city up high.
Moments pass; the sky is a darker blue. In the west
I see an arch of color. The blue merges into purple
and then red, with a smaller center of orange glory.
Orange and red bands of cloud lay across this vision
of beauty and my heart aches with feeling as I wish
I could walk through that arch, a doorway in time.
As I gaze into it, my thoughts flow towards it and I
wonder what worlds lay on the other side. Places lost
in time become almost real and they touch my mind.
On the other side of that gateway, does another self
watch the sun as it rises with a shout and a promise?
Do I scan the heavens, looking for meaning in the new day?
I imagine a world where a different me knows the answers
to all of the questions that confound me, but that
being has questions of his own. (Perhaps we need them)
I wonder if I was present when this world was made.
In any case, I'd like to thank whoever decided that
the days should be crowned with fire and glory.
Slowly, the brilliant colors fade and I am left with
echoes of strangeness. But still, I am not alone.
The stars are shining for me and that's another story.
Death in Vegas: Part 3
by Dan Scranton
When we last left Jerry, he had the sudden realization that knowing he was going to die soon meant that he didn't need to be afraid of everything any more.
EXT. STREET - NIGHT
Jerry skips down the street with Mr. Prickly in his hands.
JERRY
Mr. Prickly, can you remember the last
time we were out at night? Isn't it
wonderful? Look at all the lights!
Where should we go?
Jerry stops skipping in front of a strip joint.
JERRY
Mr. Prickly! You have quite the dirty
mind. Must be all the dirt that you're
planted in. But, if you insist.
Jerry enters the strip joint.
INT. STRIP JOINT - NIGHT
A BOUNCER, 27 and huge, stands at the door.
A STRIPPER, 23 and friendly, collects the cover charge.
STRIPPER
That'll be ten dollars, doll.
Jerry gladly hands over the TEN while staring at the stripper's chest.
The club is full of sketchy-looking CHARACTERS and very professional-looking STRIPPERS. Jerry takes it all in as he slowly walks to the stage. A WAITRESS approaches him.
WAITRESS
Two drink minimum. What'll it be?
JERRY
Are you thirsty, Mr. Prickly? But you'd
like to wet your whistle? Okay. I'll
have a water and, let's see, a raspberry
wine cooler!
The Waitress rolls her eyes as she walks away. Jerry takes a seat at the stage, where APRIL, 25 and nimble, does her routine. Jerry places Mr. Prickly down in front of him.
He notices other MEN putting MONEY on the stage in front of them, and he watches April dance in front of them. Jerry grabs a TWENTY DOLLAR BILL and places it on the stage.
April struts over to Jerry and sticks her breasts right in his face.
JERRY
Oh, dear.
April picks up the twenty dollar bill.
APRIL
Somebody's generous.
She looks down at Mr. Prickly.
APRIL
You deserve somethin' special. She
squats down and picks Mr. Prickly up
with her butt cheeks.
JERRY
Oh, Mr. Prickly. You are such a bad
boy.
April puts Mr. Prickly back down.
APRIL
If you guys are lookin' to party, you
should check out the champagne room.
JERRY
Champagne? Well, I can't see the harm
in that.
INT. CHAMPAGNE ROOM - NIGHT
Jerry drinks his WINE COOLER as he enters the champagne room. There are STRIPPERS giving lap dances, blow jobs, and hand jobs to various MEN. Jerry's jaw drops.
CRYSTAL, 22 and girl-next-doorish, approaches Jerry.
CRYSTAL
You're new. I'm Crystal. Let me tell
you how this works. You can choose
whichever girl you like and make your
own deal with her for what you want.
JERRY
I-, I-...
CRYSTAL
I'll tell you what. First one's on me.
Have a seat.
She pushes Jerry down on a CHAIR and straddles him. She rides his crotch for a few moments, dry humping him. Jerry covers Mr. Prickly's eyes.
COPS burst in through a back door.
COP
Police! Nobody move! You're all under
arrest!
CRYSTAL
Oh, shit.
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
The front door is still wide open. Sal and Gina return to the apartment and look around for Jerry.
SAL
Jer? Hey, where are ya?
They duck there heads into the bathroom and bedroom.
GINA
He's not here.
SAL
Jesus Christ.
GINA
Where do you think he would go?
INT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT
Jerry sits at a desk opposite OFFICER DAVIS, 43 and jaded.
JERRY
And then Mr. Prickly touched this one
woman's bottom. But she didn't seem to
mind. And then she suggested that we go
to the champagne room. Now I've never
had champagne before, and Mr. Prickly
doesn't drink, but I figured what the
heck. I mean, I'll be dead in two
months. So then Crystal sat on my lap
and started moving around. And then-
Officer Davis just puts his hand up to stop Jerry from finishing the story.
JERRY
But-
Officer Davis re-emphasizes his stop signal. He picks up a PHONE receiver and hands it to Jerry.
JERRY
Oh, I'll call my brother.
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Sal and Gina stand in the apartment, deep in thought.
SAL
This is serious. He took the fuckin'
cactus.
The PHONE RINGS.
Gina answers it.
GINA
Hello? Oh, great. It's you.
She hands the phone to Sal.
SAL
The police station? They're lettin' you
go, huh? Don't go anywhere. We'll be
right there. What? You wanna walk
home? Wait, no, don't-
Sal pulls the phone from his ear.
SAL
He's walkin' home from the police
station.
GINA
Why was he at a police station?
EXT. STREET - NIGHT
Jerry struts down the street with three Strippers on each arm and Mr. Prickly in one hand.
STRIPPER #1
Thanks for bailing us out, Jer.
STRIPPER #2
Yeah. You're the best.
JERRY
It was Mr. Prickly's idea.
STRIPPER #3
Is there some way we can pay you and-
She looks down at his crotch.
STRIPPER #3 (CONT'D)
Mr. Prickly back?
Jerry clearly doesn't get the insinuation.
JERRY
No. That's quite all right. I can't
take it with me. Oh. This is it.
Jerry walks up the steps to his building, turns, and waves goodbye to the Strippers.
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Jerry enters to find Sal pacing and Gina sitting on the couch biting her nails.
SAL
Jesus Christ. Where the hell were you?
JERRY
I was having fun.
GINA
And you got arrested?
JERRY
I wanted to do something crazy. I
figure I've got thirty-five years of
living to do in the next six weeks. I'm
not going to be afraid anymore.
GINA
Good for you.
SAL
No. Not good. You need to get to Vegas
with me in one piece, or ma won't gi-,
she won't get to see you one last time.
GINA
Sal-
SAL
This is family business, Gina! Now, I
need you to be here in the morning, cuz
we're gettin' on the first Greyhound
outta here.
Sal looks around and sees the bottle of Percodan.
SAL
Here. Take some of these.
Sal pours three PILLS into his hand. He shakes the bottle until a fourth comes out.
SAL
You'll sleep just fine.
GINA
You're drugging him?
SAL
He needs to relax.
JERRY
I don't know.
He looks at Mr. Prickly.
JERRY
What do you think, Mr. Prickly?
SAL
These are for the pain, right? You
don't wanna be in pain on the bus ride.
JERRY
I guess you're right.
Sal gives Jerry the pills, and Jerry pops them into his mouth. Sal pours him a GLASS of water.
SAL
Wash 'em down.
He hands Jerry the glass, and Jerry drinks.
JERRY
Well, I don't fell anythi-
Jerry plops down on the couch and passes out.
DREAM/FANTASY/TRIP
EXT. DESERT - DAY
Jerry roller skates through a cactus patch with Mr. Prickly in his hand.
JERRY
Isn't it wonderful, Mr. Prickly? Do you
see any nice female cactuseses?
WILMA NERT, 60 and tacky, rides through the air on a WINGED HORSE. She has an OXYGEN TANK that is hooked up to her nose. She also smokes a CIGARETTE.
JERRY
Look, Mr. Prickly. It's Ma!
Wilma's horse lands on the desert floor in front of Jerry.
WILMA
What are you doing out here? You'll
catch your death of cold.
JERRY
But, Ma, it's the desert.
WILMA
Don't you backtalk. I'm your mother.
JERRY
Sorry.
WILMA
Now shut up for a second, cuz I got
somethin' important I gotta say.
JERRY
You want to tell me that you love me?
WILMA
Don't be ridiculous. This is important!
Thirty-seven black.
JERRY
Thirty-seven black what? Ma? Ma?
Wilma morphs into a beautiful WOMAN. The Woman is dressed in a METALLIC BIKINI and looks like a mythical heroine.
JERRY
Who are you?
WOMAN
I'm here to rescue you.
She walks over to Jerry and kisses him.
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - DAY
Morning has broken, and Jerry is still passed out on the couch. Sal picks him up and slings him over his shoulder. Gina grabs Mr. Prickly, and they exit the apartment.
EXT. BUS STATION - DAY
Sal carries Jerry onto the bus with Gina in tow.
INT. BUS - DAY
Sal sits Jerry next to WANDA SMITH, 34 and pretty. He buckles Jerry's SEATBELT, and Gina puts Mr. Prickly in between Sal's legs. Sal and Gina sit in the seats on the other side of the same row.
Jerry flops down into Wanda's chest. She desperately tries to wake him up, but can't. She props him back up, and moments later, he flops down again. This time his face is planted in Wanda's crotch. Wanda shakes Jerry.
WANDA
Excuse me! Excuse me!
SAL
Oh, he's all drugged up. There's no
wakin' him. If we're lucky, he'll stay
that way till we get to Vegas.
WANDA
But-
SAL
He's on painkillers cuz he's dyin'.
Poor guy's got like six weeks to live.
Wanda's expression goes from freaked out to sympathetic.
GINA
(to Sal)
What are you doing?
SAL
(to Gina)
Gettin' him some sympathy. You know
he's never been laid.
GINA
(to Sal)
That's actually kind of sweet.
SAL
(to Gina)
See. I ain't so bad.
INT. BUS - DAY
Gina sleeps on Sal's shoulder. Jerry's still passed out in Wanda's crotch.
Cacophonous SOUNDS come from the bus, and smoke billows out from the engine. The bus slows to a halt.
BUS DRIVER
Sorry, folks. I'm afraid we're having
some mechanical problems. I'll send for
another bus.
SAL
Oh, shit.
Sal walks down the aisle to address the BUS DRIVER, 45 and heavyset.
SAL
How long is it gonna take?
BUS DRIVER
Could be hours. Could be longer. We
might have to put you all up in a hotel
for the night.
Sal walks back down the aisle and grabs Jerry. He hoists his brother over his shoulder.
GINA
What's going on?
SAL
The bus broke down. We might not get
another one till fuckin' tomorrow.
WANDA
Tomorrow? Oh, that's no good.
SAL
You in a hurry?
WANDA
I absolutely have to be there by Friday.
SAL
You got a credit card?
WANDA
Yes.
SAL
And a cell phone?
WANDA
I don't understand.
EXT. BUS - DAY
Sal is on the CELL PHONE.
SAL
Yeah. I know. But you gotta help us
out. It's a life or death situation.
We're on the side of the highway next to
a big, smoking, piece of shit. All
right. Yeah.
Sal flips the phone shut.
WANDA
Are they coming?
SAL
Should be here in a half hour.
Jerry is passed out on the ground. He moves and makes some noises. Wanda squats down and touches his face. Jerry opens his eyes and takes it all in.
JERRY
You're here to save me?

Is Wanda there to save Jerry? Will they ever make it to Vegas or will the mob catch up to Sal first? To find out what happens, tune in to next month's installment of Death in Vegas
The Serial Killer
by Val Clifton
Take the knife, take a life, and take your pain away,
Your deepest fear, your darkest rage extinguished in a blow
Your enemy, vanquished, has lost his mortal power
The lifeless shroud upon the ground knows who's master now
Your battle is won as ignorance prevails
But your war still rages on
With same M.O. again you'll go, until you find another
And the quickened dart breaks another heart until eventually you
see
Each stranger, each victim, is your brother.
Foolish child! they are not gone, but still live on, with each one
of your fears
But for you, today, is a short reprieve, an illusion of victory
Next time around, a guiding sound will whisper 'til you can clearly
see
The sanctity of life
And then, poor, lost child, 'tis you who will weep and bleed.
Symbol Analysis Technique
by Denny Hall
The most potent symbol analysis technique I've ever come across was
suggested by James, the entity whom Tam Mossman channels. (Cogent,
insightful material that is strong enough to stand on its own merits,
whether one agrees as to the source or not, unlike most love-and-light,
nebulous twaddle that passes for channeled material.)
Tam has self-published an excellent book called Answers From A Grander
Self and used to put out "Metapsychology, The Journal for Disincarnate
Entities". (The James Material was always the highlight of the various
'entities' that appeared. See love-and-light twaddle comment above.)
The technique is to describe a dream breaking down the symbols in a manner
that indicates what they mean to you.
This is done by adopting the conceit of explaining a dream to, say, an
extraterrestrial who understands English but not many of the nouns we use.
So, for example, say such a creature was unfamiliar with the word "house".
You would have to define what that means, and by doing so you end up
defining what it means specifically to you.
You may say, continuing my example, that a house is a place where a person
lives, it gives them shelter and keeps them warm and safe from the elements,
and so on and so forth.
At this point, however, our imaginary alien friend may not know what a place
is or what shelter is. You would then have to define what those words mean
(to you).
Of course, this exercise can take any symbol probe it to a level of
incredible detail, and most symbols, I would proffer, needn't require such
endless detail in exploration.
Likely, as well, in undertaking this process you will quickly come to
understand what a symbol means to you personally and insight will or will
not be gained, as to its inclusion in an event and meaning, fairly soon or
not at all for the present, as for example, the symbol may be being used to
refer to other levels of one's being, probable selves, other incarnations,
etc.
Such symbology (that is, the study of symbols) is most useful, of course, in
understanding the absolutely personalized and unique nature of an
individual's dreams.
Also, however, such analysis can greatly benefit a personality by increasing
her/his understanding of the symbols that recur in their waking existence.
This is a useful aid to belief work, as well, as one's beliefs about one's
environment, possessions, etc. will be reflected in the ultimately
individual connotations loaded onto such symbols.
So Where Did Sue Watkins Really Come From?
Some Thoughts on Jane Roberts and The Chestnut Beads
By Susan M. Watkins
Originally published in the Summer '95 Issue of Reality Change
November 22, 1994: Here's an idea for you: Ten years before we met,
Jane Roberts thought me up, birthed me from her typewriter, and sent
me off to publication in Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine. Of
course, she also incinerated me with an atom bomb, but creations can
be tricky, can't they? Eventually I managed to find my way back to
her Elmira apartment on New Year's Eve, 1967, complete with my own
past, and hang what was asked of me on paper.
Here's how this idea appears in the official world: Jane was my
friend, but more than that, she was my creative-endeavor mother-
mentor. She encouraged my writing and "psychic" abilities and
demanded that I take them seriously. No one else had ever asked this
of me. Also, we shared a certain energy, a way of "clicking in" to
things, which was, oddly, both the center of our friendship and the
thing that precluded simple girlfriend-being. Our similarities were
as striking as our differences, which of themselves seemed---
similar. And evocative. But of what?
Then one afternoon I pulled an old copy of Fantasy & Science Fiction
Magazine out of her bookcase and Jane said something like, there's a
story of mine in there called The Chestnut Beads, and I said, holy
shit, you wrote that story? And she said something like, holy shit,
you read it? And wow, what a neat coincidence. But neither of us
grasped just how neat it was, because half of the "coincidence"
hadn't even happened yet.
I first read The Chestnut Beads in a Rod Serling anthology in
December of 1963, while I was in my freshman year at Syracuse
University. I'd been reading (and writing) science fiction and
fantasy for years, but this story hit me in an especially strong
way. It is a riveting tale of the end of the world by nuclear war,
something that I believed in then with what you might call dramatic
outrage. I felt sorrier for the trees and animals that might die
than for any human, though I figured I'd survive well enough, albeit
with some inconveniences; but the slate would be wiped "clean" of
too many humans and we could start over and get it right this time.
Such were my naive beliefs. . .not all that different from the
story's intent, actually.
My family didn't have a bomb shelter, but our rural home near
Elmira, N.Y., had a large dirt-floor fruit cellar stocked with jars
of thirty-year old moldy pickles, and my father had a (mostly
useless) gun collection in the attic and some survival skills left
over from Marine Corps days. We used to make jokes about how we
would all sit in the fruit cellar with our five Siamese cats until
it was safe to come out and start eating Campbell's soup warmed up
on the charcoal grill and maybe shoot a few looters. This was the
extent of our Nuclear War Disaster Plan.
Sometimes I think that our lack of truly serious intent was the only
thing that kept us out of that particular probable history,
considering our powerful assumptions about its inevitability. My
father was a demolition expert and must have known how futile any
such "survival" plans were, anyway. But my main worry about going to
college in Syracuse was that it was a big city, therefore a target.
The Chestnut Beads spoke to all of this---to the incredible
psychological impact that the possibility of such a thing as nuclear
war had, and continues to have, on us all.
Meanwhile, not by accident, also in December of 1963, back in my
home town of Elmira, a couple of writer-artist types had started to
get some decidedly odd messages on a ouija board as part of their
research for a book on ESP. My college dorm girlfriends and I played
with Ouija boards a lot that year---we even made a few "contacts,"
about which I recall nothing. Mostly it was a way of bringing some
small drama into our daily routine. But it was about this same
time--
-coincidentally---that the SU sororities came around to the dorm to
recruit new pledges.
I had nothing but disdain for the sorority system and all that
girly-
girly stuff, as I thought of it---the whole business deeply offended
me and my tightly-held fears about being female (though I didn't
understand these at the time). Effectively, this disdain isolated me
from college social life, which was fine by me. I was alone,
independent---apart, watching. This was my carefully-held s elf-
image. So for me to "discover" The Chestnut Beads and identify so
strongly with it, and with the transformation of the character Olive
into the powerful Migma, is a good example of how experiences spring
so smoothly from ideas and expectations. And then to discover that
your new-found friend/mentor/creative-abilities-mother is the author
of this most memorable of tales is a fascinating, amusing
coincidence---though nothing overly spectacular, really, since
authors have to live somewhere and you're bound to run into a few of
them during your lifetime, right?
Sure. Years later---long after I'd married and divorced Carl ("Ned")
WATKINS, whom I didn't even meet until late 1968, at Jane and Rob's
place---in 1978, when I was putting together the proposal for
Conversations with Seth---it was Tam Mossman, Jane's editor at
Prentice-Hall, who pointed out that in The Chestnut Beads, the main
character/Jane-figure's child is named Sue Watkins! Which of course
hadn't "meant" anything to me when I read it in 1963, or to Jane
when she wrote it in 1957---in the usual terms.
More, as I was reading over The Chestnut Beads to write this
piece---
and I should note here that I hadn't read the entire story all the
way through since 1963---I discovered other quite astonishing
coincidences that, if nothing else, certainly demonstrate the
amazing multidimensional nature of creative endeavors. For example:
In the story, much is made of the Friday night get-togethers at the
home of the mysterious woman named Lounze. It is during one of these
gatherings that Olive is introduced to her husband-to-be, William
Watkins. Remember, Jane wrote this story in 1957, when I was twelve.
She and Rob didn't move to Elmira until 1960. By the time I met her
on Dec. 31, 1967, she and Rob had been hosting spontaneous little
Friday-night get-togethers with friends for some time, and it was
during one of these that I met Carl Watkins, whom Jane and Rob had
known for about a year.
Just a coincidence, of course. In the story, Lounze engineers this
introduction for hidden reasons of her own. When I told my mother
that Carl and I were going to marry, her first reaction was to
demand, "Is this Jane's idea?" I couldn't imagine where in hell that
notion was coming from, since Jane had nothing to do with
it. . .though my mother did find Jane, or more accurately, my
friendship with Jane, mysterious and vaguely threatening (as the
Lounze character is, interestingly). What I didn't tell my mother
just then was that---oops!---her grandchild (Sean) was already on
the way. And I suppose it's too ridiculous to point out that "Sean"
is the Gaelic form of "John," as in Olive's first-born, Johnnie
Watkins, a cute little twist I'd consciously forgotten until I
reread the story; and Sean and I always did have a sibling-like
relationship, and hey, how far can you take this stuff, anyhow?
Well, I don't know. Here's some more: On the cover of the March 1958
edition of Fantasy & Science Fiction in which The Bundu, Jane's
sequel to The Chestnut Beads, appears, that short novel is billed
along with The Omen (oh...really?) by Shirley Jackson, who was a
graduate of Syracuse University and another of my favorite authors
of "strange" tales (though we never met). And it is evocative indeed
to contemplate the "larger-self" names that are given in Chestnut
Beads to the girls who join the "sorority"---it reminds me of the
entity names given by Seth in Jane's ESP class (and other sessions)
years later, and the explicit resonant significance that the sound
of these "given" names has for those to whom they were "said." (This
whole business initially made me extremely uncomfortable, by the
way, and still does, to some extent, even though I intuitively
understood it and liked "my" name, Oranda, well enough---though it
does seem just a tad girly-girly.)
Lastly (I think), and this is of course just a funny little side-
synchrony: When I was a kid, I spent many hours constructing magic
circles (my word for them) on the living-room rug with rocks,
leaves, dried mushrooms, and chestnuts---they had to be chestnuts,
the gleaming, smooth, round horse-chestnut variety. I'd drag boxes
and boxes of rocks and chestnuts into the house, and the "circles"
had to be just so, and close on themselves just so, for the "magic"
to be complete. And sometimes I would sew the chestnuts together
into chains and necklaces, using a tapestry needle and yarn! Even
today, I have a little round dish filled with a "circle" of sea
beans (chestnut-like seed pods), rocks, shells, and tree mushrooms
on my bookcase. . .a connection I didn`t make until I was writing
this!
And funny how my friend, the late poet Dan Stimmerman---who took me
to that New Year's Eve party in 1967 so I could meet Jane---also
used to make "magic circles" out of rocks, leaves, mushrooms and
horse chestnuts on his living-room rug when he was a kid, long
before he and I met. And of course it's just a big fat silly
coincidence that I "accidentally"---meaning I didn't realize what
I'd done at the time---gave him the pseudonym "Darren Stephens," the
name of the sitcom "Bewitched" witch's husband, in Conversations
With Seth---isn't it?
Sure it is. I mean, how crazy can you get?
November 23, 1994: Pretty crazy. That was supposed to be the end of
this essay, but synchronistic events, once set in motion will not
leave well enough alone! So in the spirit of things, so to speak, I
want to add what happened after I finished typing the above pages
into my computer. I think Reality Change readers might find it
pleasantly mind boggling!
I worked on this article all morning (of the 22nd), took a break at
11:00, and decided to drive (six miles) into the nearby village of
Watkins Glen and visit Linda H., manager of the antiques and
collectibles co-op where I have a small booth of goodies for sale,
mostly rummage sale culls. Linda was busy sorting out an enormous
collection of old postcards that she'd purchased the day before---
1,800 of them, stacked everywhere. She was arranging them by subject
in notebook sleeves and shoe boxes, and pricing each of them for
sale, a huge job.
Usually, I'm not much interested in old postcards, but these were
exceptionally beautiful ones from the turn of the century.
Completely at random, I picked up a notebook full of them and opened
it. The first postcard I saw was a scene near the Chemung River in
Elmira, N.Y. Next to it---and I nearly missed it because the photo
looked so "new"---was a postcard of the apartment building at 458
W.Water Street where Jane and Rob lived during all of the events I'd
been writing about that morning.
The photo had been taken from the intersection of West Water and
Walnut, specifically showing that apartment's windows. I pulled the
postcard out of its sleeve and turned it over.
The card was postmarked from Dundee, N.Y., and had been sent by
someone named Lillian to a Mrs. Parker in Beaver Dams, N.Y. (a
hamlet near Watkins Glen). The postmark was August 8, though the
year was faint and obscure.
Of course, Dundee is where I lived from 1973-1986, during which time
I wrote Conversations With Seth and first became consciously aware
of the Sue Watkins tidbit in The Chestnut Beads.
Linda H., the co-op manager, lives in Beaver Dams.
Sean's paternal grandmother's first name was Lillian---another funny
connection with the Watkins name. (By the way, the village of
Watkins Glen is not named for Carl's family.)
And that Mrs. Parker. . .gee, just the day before I'd been reading
Last Train to Memphis, Peter Guralnick's new biography of Elvis
Presley, in which Col. Parker, Elvis's famous promoter, is of course
prominent. Some of my interest in Elvis's life comes from the simple
fact that he and I share the same birth date, though ten years
apart, on January 8. Standing there in the co-op, I recalled that
Jane's birth date is May 8, in 1929. In the introduction to the
Presley book, Guralnick expresses some thoughts about his subject
that are intriguingly similar to my own concerning the memoir of
Jane that I plan to write, and just that morning, I'd photocopied
Guralnick's Intro for later reference.
I said to Linda, "I have to have this card!" (It was $2.00.) Linda
told me that she had ten others just like it, though uncancelled
(unused), in a shoe box that was out on the counter. I gave these a
quick look-see but for some reason decided that I didn't want them.
Then I came back home, stopping at the foot of my driveway to pick a
bunch of mail out of the mailbox.p And what to my wondering eyes did
appear? Are you ready for this? Here is what was in my mailbox:
1) A reply card from L., who had lived at 458 West Water Street---in
the first-floor apartment shown on the postcard---during the years
of Jane's ESP class! (He no longer lives there.) Leonard was
responding to a letter I'd sent him on Nov. 5 asking if he had any
memories or dreams of Jane that he'd like to share for my memoir. In
the card---which has on its cover a sketch of a lighthouse and
seaside-cottage style hotel in North Truro, on Cape Cod---Leonard
said that he'd put some material together for me.
2) A reply card from the artist George Rhoads, also responding to my
Nov. 5 inquiry about Jane-memories, also saying he'd gather up some
material for me. Included with this note was a postcard of one of
George's paintings, a cartoon-like scene entitled "Labyrinth of
Proverbs." Well, if this whole business isn't a labyrinth, I don't
know what is!
Because. . .earlier that morning I'd been looking through some of my
dream journals and had decided to write up a study on "dreams and
the mail" coincidences. The specific incident I'd been contemplating
happened in 1987, when I'd received a postcard (addressed to "Dear
Oranda," incidentally) from George, who was visiting Martha's
Vineyard (off the Cape Cod coast), and the card had arrived the same
day as that week's New Yorker magazine---in which there was a
cartoon (a "sketch") that used exactly the same scene of two women
walking in front of a row of seaside-cottage style houses as
depicted on George's card! And I'd been rereading all of this just
that morning, in 1994.
3) Also in my mailbox was a newsletter from the Newhouse School of
Journalism at Syracuse University. . .where I first read The
Chestnut Beads. And the thing is, this was the Spring 1994 edition
of that newsletter! What was it doing, just getting to me now? 4)
And finally, there was a letter from Amazing Stories (a magazine
that closely resembles Fantasy & Science Fiction), rejecting my
short story, "Rummage Sale of the Gods," whose main (female)
character is a "junque" dealer---a funny connection to the antiques
and collectibles co-op where I'd just picked up the postcard.
I thought, this is too much! I'm going to explode! And then I went
into the house and got out my stamp magnifier (which brings tiny
paper fibers into clear focus) and looked at the cancellation on the
postcard of 458 W. Water. . .and the year was. . .
1929! The year Jane was born! AAAACCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!! So---riding
on what you might call an impulse rocket, I zoomed back down to the
co-op and bought all ten of the uncanceled postcards of that old
apartment building. How could I not?
So enjoy The Chestnut Beads should you be able to obtain a copy---it
is truly a circle of never-ending magic.
Announcements
The Secret Magdalene by Ki Longfellow
MARY MAGDALENE is the subject of a recent rash of books and television documentaries. All over the world, men and women are questioning what has gone unquestioned for hundreds of years. Who, and what, was Mary Magdalene?
In all this clamor, why another book?
Ki Longfellow's novel, The Secret Magdalene, would answer: though the Magdalene is treated as a wife or The Goddess or as the Beloved Disciple or even as The Grail, no one speaks of the original teachings—the "mystery" behind the Mystery Teaching.
Two New Books by Susan M. Watkins
I would like to announce two new books from Susan. Any day now, the
25th Anniversary reprint edition of Conversations With Seth will be
out. This will be published as 2 separate volumes, the way it was
originally done 25 years ago by its first publisher, Prentice Hall.
These editions are coming out now from Moment Point Press.
Also, Susan has just finished work on her totally new upcoming
book--
What A Coincidence!: Understanding Synchronicity In Everyday Life
(due out in September, and now available for pre-orders on Amazon.com
Amazon is currently offering it at the discounted rate of $10.85;
they will ship it out to you as soon as it comes out in September if
you choose to order a copy at this time. The book will be
approximately 224 pages.
What A Coincidence is an extraordinarily original take on the
subject, in which Sue draws from very interesting experiences in her
own personal life and more to hint at an orderly yet magical
framework that unites all of our individual and joint experiences.
More information on the book will be posted in Sue's Yahoo group as its publication date draws closer.
THANKS!

The Fine Art of Forming and Transforming Individual and Mass
Reality, A Fresh Creative Drama?
Your thoughts now seed worlds. It is only because you do
not know that, that what I say sounds strange. You are here
because your thoughts before your births seeded this world into
which you would grow. You did not come here strangers. There
is still, you see, much to learn. ESP Class 29 Sept 1979
As Seth readers we are aware that our beliefs, thoughts and
expectations create our individual and mass reality seed our
world/planet. We know this yet many of us wonder why we continue
to be faced with events that are not pleasing to us, events
that appear to lack value fulfillment for so many, and we wonder
why this is so. Does this happen because we allow our focus
and attention, our fine sense of discrimination to be drawn
away from our inbuilt propensity to form ?dazzling mental and
psychological creations i.e. our civilization its arts and sciences.
During our 'Seth Applied' weekend we aim to re-establish a 'feel'
for those in-born leanings through stimulating discussion centered
on the significance of Dreams, Framework 2, (inner reality),
use of the Imagination, Focus and Expectation. We will also
visit a display of the Jane Roberts papers housed in Sterling
Memorial Library at Yale. And best of all we will take time
to playfully and rambunctiously ?daydream? (envision) a society
more in line with an evolving consciousness intent on value
fulfillment for all. And better still during our weekend we
will apply Seth?'s suggestion to 'act as if' all this has taken
place, as we concentrate on what we want. So join us bringing
not only your ideas of what areas of a society/civilization
you feel disposed towards transforming, but most importantly
your good intent, your sense humor, and ready to share your
personal experiences and successes through use of the Seth material.
The world is changed in imagination. It is changed in dreams.
It is changed in inner creativity and through your dreams, and
then it is created physically.
