A Word From the Editor

Since Don's review of 9/11 - the Unknown Reality of the World coincided with the anniversary of the events of 9/11, I thought it would be fitting to share a few perspectives on the event. The impact of 9/11 has been significant on all of us, it has challenged many people to question what they believe and to re-evaluate their principles.

For many people, these events triggered a 'flight or fight' response, and they set their minds into a defensive posture. The hijackers became two dimensional symbols of 'evil', and any attempt to look at them as human beings was pushed aside in the heat of the moment. At the time of the event, such responses are perfectly natural, but once the danger had passed I believe that it's important to examine the event and it's participants with a wider perspective.

Among those of us who believe that we create our own realities, there has been a wide variety of reactions. I believe that Mark Allen Frost's and Cas Smith's channeling is an example of one such reaction. From the excerpts I have read, I don't believe that they are channeling 'Seth' as we knew him, but instead they are tapping into their own inner beings, in an attempt to find greater meaning on this powerful event.

I commend them for doing this, even if I don't agree with much of the material. As the saying goes 'all roads lead to Rome' and I believe that this is part of their own growth process. I have included an article of mine this month as well, titled: The Inner Voice of the Master which provides my own interpretation of the 9/11 event. I am sure that there are many who will disagree with my beliefs as well, and that's fine. I make no claims to know the truth more than anyone else.

If you find yourself disagreeing with one of the perspectives featured here. Ask yourself whether it's because the ideas are challenging you to go into new areas of thought, or because you feel that the ideas are too limited in their framework. The latter case is like reading an argument on why the world is flat, you might get a smile out of it, but you won't learn very much. The former case however I think touches on the core of the Seth material: It encourages you to grow and explore events from a wider perspective, to draw your own conclusions, and possibly even grow beyond them as you continue exploring. I'll leave you now with one of my favorite Seth quotes to keep in mind as you're reading:

"We have never told anybody to do anything, except to face up to the abilities of consciousness."

9/11 - The Unknown Reality of the World by Cas Smith and Mark Frost. A Book Review by Donald R. Johnson

There has been some talk on Sethnet about the Seth Returns book and web site. I have found myself trying to discuss the matter without real knowledge of the material so I decided to buy the book and learn more about it. Here is my review of the book. For clarity, I will refer to Mark's Seth as SethR and Jane Roberts' Seth will be called Seth. All italics and material in parentheses are added by me; underlinings are original.

Any review of this book, intended for Sethnet members, must be more than just a book review because what we really want to know is 'Is this Seth?' I can only offer my opinions, but I will tell you what information I base my opinions on. I will address the following questions:

Is this Seth?
If not by Seth, is the material valid channeling?

It is impossible to prove whether this is, or is not, Seth. That determination must be made by each reader and can only be based upon the reader's knowledge of the Seth material and use of intuitive abilities.

Now, to the book:

OVERVIEW

Introductions: There are introductions by Cas, by Mark, and by SethR, as well as 'Understanding the Seth Entity' by SethR and a preface by SethR. In the introductions, Cas and Mark tell how they encountered the SethR entity and about the events that led to the writing of the book.

In SethR's introduction, I first noticed that SethR has a strange way of speaking that Seth did not have. An example "…I am no longer focused in the physical realms of the third-dimensional world that you call Earth." His speech sounds awkward to me.

By `awkward', I mean that the sentence sounds like it was put together by a committee; I feel that Seth would have said something like "…I am no longer focused in physical reality." That is the clarity that we have learned to expect from Seth, not referring to our world with 3 different terms in one sentence (physical realms, third-dimensional world, Earth).

In his second preface, SethR tells us about the negative factors that are at work in the world now. IMO, they are the same factors that existed in Seth’s previous ‘incarnation' (1963 - 1984) but for some reason now he considers them to be perilous, urgent and powerful. So powerful, in fact, that the reader may feel that he does not create his own reality. We are portrayed as victims at the mercy of the usual suspects: the media, greedy corporations, Doctors and Psychiatrists, and wicked Governments. SethR reassures us that The Christ Entity will be along to help us out.

There are 10 chapters; titles are:

1) The Contract of Life
2) The Soul's Evolution
3) Evolving as a Species
4) Moving Out of the Darkness
5) The Realignment of Belief Systems
6) The Misuse of Religion
7) Changing the Consciousness of Mankind
8) The Realities of a Distorted World
9) The Forces of Power
10) The Multidimensional Reality of the Self

This is a book with an agenda. SethR has seemingly decided that the world is a bad place and he tells us how to change ourselves and the world for the better. He claims that the world is about to shift into the 4th dimension and that we need to adjust our thinking accordingly. We can choose to align ourselves with the forces of Light or of Darkness. I don't know why Seth did not mention this in any of his books.

FORMATTING

I need to mention a few things about the formatting of the book and the way that the material is presented.

'9/11' has 249 numbered pages. 75 pages are used for the short Glossary and the section called 'Questions and Answers with Seth' in which Seth answers Mark's questions. This leaves 174 pages for book material. The book is printed in large type; this further cuts down the amount of book material. Each chapter begins with chapter number, chapter title, list of subheadings and a quote from Seth that is repeated later. This means that the first page of each chapter only has 1/3 of a page of actual material. In chapter 7 there are 6 of these snippets from Seth, repeated later in the chapter. I am not pointing this out to nitpick, but rather to show that the way this book was formatted ensures that it has to be sold in 2 volumes.

The reader of Seth’s books will surely miss Robert Butts' great notes. There are no notes in '9/11'; the author says that the book was published without notes and comments for 'the sake of clarity and flow of material'. I feel that Robert Butts' notes actually added to the clarity of the material; that is the purpose of having such notes.

Also, we do not see any instances of SethR adding his own punctuation. Seth often said 'period', 'New paragraph', 'set apart' or 'in large print' to make sure that the material appeared the way that he wanted it, to facilitate understanding. SethR just seems to speak without pause; many times there are missing commas and often he mixes tense in a sentence.

Examples:

Pg xxxi - This material is written to give the reader insights into your reality and stimulate you to question the beliefs and values that you hold.

Pg xxxii - Some of that confusion will be eliminated as one reexamines the reality of your world.

COMPARISON: SETH vs. SETHR

Let's compare Seth and SethR on a couple of subjects.

SethR from pages 15 & 16:
'It is important to understand that your body is a gift.'

'The rules are very clear about suicide. You may not take your own life. It is a violation of Universal Law.'

'The suicide mission entities (9/11 terrorists) have already been returned to incarnate in the bodies of babies in relatively the same conditions and circumstances.'

'A suicide can only be justified on an individual basis with the members of the Council and the soul present. There are only a few situations where it is acceptable.' (Terminal illness).

'If you have abused your life with drugs, alcohol or whatever, this is also considered a suicide and you will be returned to do it all over again.'

Now, Seth from 'Seth Speaks', session 546:
'Suicides, as a class, for example, do not have any particular ‘punishment' meted out to them, nor is their condition any worse a priori. They are treated as individuals.'

'The conditions connected with an act of suicide are also important and the inner reality and realization of the individual. I mention this here because many philosophies teach that suicides are met by a sort of special, almost vindictive fate, and such is not the case.'

'Early Sessions', session 95, after 10:17:

'The adult who commits suicide has still gained experience to some degree within your plane.'

'This necessity for value fulfillment through experience upon a particular existence plane, is the only detriment, if you wish to think of it that way, to free will.

'Now. No other commands are built-in, no other prohibitions given.'
SethR on guilt, page 18:
'Effectively it does no good to linger in thoughts of guilt, for essentially there is no such thing anyway. Guilt is a manufactured production of your own mind/thought energy. Guilt has no purpose. Punishing yourself with guilt only locks the doors on forgiveness of self and shuts out The Creator's light. Realize that by letting go of the feelings of guilt and changing your conscious thoughts, you will have done more good than you are aware of.'
Seth on guilt, NOPR session 635, at 9:35:
'So controls were needed lest the conscious mind, denied full use of the animals' innate taboos, run away with itself. Guilt, natural guilt, depends upon memory then.

'It does not carry with it any built-in connection with punishment as you think of it. Once more, it was meant as a preventive measure. Any violation against nature would bring about a feeling of guilt so that when a like situation was encountered in the future, man would, in that moment of reflection, not repeat the same action.'

SethR on the ‘Point of Power', page 51:
Exercise: Point of Power. 'As I have mentioned before in other writings, focusing on your own point of power will allow you to know you: your soul. Take five minutes out of your day to focus on your emotional, spiritual and psychic abilities and nothing else. This is of great benefit and will enable you to bring your physical being in alignment with you-the-soul. Focus on you, your soul and nothing else. Bring to your thoughts a desire for an awareness of your being. Listen to the hum of you, feel the vibrational hum of your being. Again, do this and then forget about it. It's that simple. Notice how you feel after the five minutes are up. For the human vehicle it can be almost intoxicating to suddenly become aware of the soul aspects of self and the peacefulness that surrounds it when the ego is not involved. As you do this daily, you will start to increase your own vibrational hum and move your being into alignment with the planetary evolution.'
Seth on the ‘Point of Power', NOPR session 656, 10:59:
'You must understand that your present is the point at which flesh and matter meet with the spirit. Therefore the present is your point of power in your current lifetime, as you think of it. If you assign greater force to the past, then you will feel ineffective and deny yourself your own energy.

'For an exercise, sit with your eyes wide open, looking about you, and realize that this moment represents the point of your power, through which you can affect both past and future events.

'The present seen before you, with its intimate physical experience, is the result of action in other such presents. Do not be intimidated therefore by the past or the future. There is no need at all for undesirable aspects of your contemporary reality to be projected into the future, unless you use the power of the present to do so.

'If you learn to get hold of this feeling of power now, you can use it most effectively to alter your life situation in whatever way you choose - again, within those limitations set by your creature hood.'
EXERCISES

There are eight exercises in '9/11'. If you remember Seth’s exercises from his books you will notice that these are not of the same nature. SethR's exercises seem harmless though and may actually do some good. Examples:

1) Putting your negative thoughts into an imaginary box.
2) Will you-the-soul be able to move towards the light with your beliefs?
3) Sending healing energy to your leaders to help them lead better.
4) Envision rays of healing bright light beaming down on others.

Seth’s exercises seemed to me to be meant to help us expand our use of inner senses. SethR's exercises seem to assume that the world is a dark place and that you need to brighten and heal it.

NEW AGE FOCUS

I was really turned off by SethR's continual usage of so much of the New Age terminology that Seth avoided in his books. The list of terms includes ‘Astral Plane' (Everybody's favorite), as well as ‘energy guides', ‘Dark Forces', Etheric Vision', ‘Beings of Light', ‘Masters', ‘Spiritual Hierarchy', ‘Peaceful Fourth Dimension' and many more. You may or may not include these terms in your picture of the nature of reality but you must admit that Seth did not. Examples:

Pg xlii - 'For the entities that refuse to evolve and continue on their greedy, self centered path with no regard for their fellow man, you may find yourself removed from the humming rhythms of the evolving Earth's move into the peaceful fourth dimension and assigned to one of the lower-vibrational two-dimensional planets until such time as your soul yearns to move towards the light and be cleansed.'

Pg 6 - 'There are many souls wandering around in the Astral Planes trying to find their light.'

Pg 9 - 'This contract (contract of life) is between you and The Creator and is a necessary step in your evolution as a soul.'

Pg 9 - 'It is the soul's nature and desire after perfecting itself to eventually merge with this energy source' (The Creator).

On page 43, SethR even threatens us with Hell:

"Planets are being prepared to receive those that do not wish to move into the peaceful harmonics. I am told that Pluto is certainly one of those more inhospitable planets with a magnitude of fear that you have never known. Given your limited perception of what I am saying, many of you will deny what you are hearing, but the fact remains." (I believe that Pluto = Hades = Hell, does it not?)

THE AUTHOR'S INTENT

I'd like to say a bit about what I think I see of the author's intent. Even though I have my doubts about SethR's identity and about the veracity of some of the material, I really do think that Mark Frost intends for this book to help us and to help the world. He tries to give comfort to those who may have lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks by saying that they did not suffer. He assures us that the 9/11 terrorists are already engaged in learning about their mistakes. He provides exercises meant to help the world at large and us individually. He speaks of healing and of light.

MY INTENT

My intent in writing this review is to give the reader information to help him/her decide whether to buy the book or not. I cannot prove or disprove the author's assertion that Seth wrote this book. I believe that it is not the same Seth that Jane Roberts channeled and that is my only my opinion. Having read this review, I hope that you have a better idea of the SethR material and will make your own decision.

So, is this Seth? In my opinion, no.

Is this valid channeled material? There is something more here than I thought at first. I feel that this may very well be material from some kind of inner source but I will not try to define it any better than that.

All in all, having read volume one of '9/11', I feel no desire to read volume two. I do not mean to say that I think it is worthless, just that I feel that it is a step down from the Seth material. Some may find it to be an interesting and quick read but I do not wish to change all that I have learned from Seth in order to accommodate SethR's ideas about the nature of reality.

The Inner Voice of the Master

When I first heard the news on the morning of September 11, my reactions were probably similar to most humans. First was a sense of disbelief, I told myself the news had to be wrong, there's no way both of the twin towers could have been destroyed. My physically focused self was overloaded; these events were incomprehensible. The fact that they had been caused intentionally by four planes being hijacked at once only compounded my sense of disbelief.

As the realization of the events sank in, I began to fear: Was my family all right? My brother drives a bus that passes the WTC buildings every day. I tuned in and felt that he was safe, but I also felt that someone I knew was dead, I still don't know who that person is. Despite my psychic reassurance though, I physically wanted to hear from my brother. I didn't really feel better until I had spoken to my sister the next day, who assured me he was safe.

As all this was going on I continually reminded myself that this was all a creation, and that everyone who had died chose to do so. As days went by there were reactions and letters from new age spiritual leaders, my inner self started yelling "CRAP!" whenever I read them. They talked about evil, or man not being in touch with "god" or some other judgement which did not seem to either recognize the choice of the "victims" nor the beliefs and worldview of the hijackers. I even read one person's channeling of a dead hijacker who was suffering in a purgatory environment and would have to live the deaths of every victim before he could move on. The voice inside me yearned for more than just negating these voices, it longed to say something deeper, something that recognized the choices of all involved and looked at the event from beyond the lens of duality, of good and evil, or victim and perpetrator.

The following perspective is my best translation of what my inner voice has been trying to say to me. It is my inner master, the "me" I'm working towards being. Much of what is said here may seem offensive, especially to those who follow traditional spiritual paths (including new age) or have set beliefs about the rules of the cosmos. If you believe in "justice" or punishment for evil then I recommend you read no further. If on the other hand you have found very little substance in what's already been printed about September 11th, then I hope you gain something from this perspective.

Who are you? Take a moment a scribble down a few things that come to mind? What are the terms you use to identify yourself? How many of them are locked into this particular physical existence, i.e. I am a male, I am 37 years old, I am an American, I am of Irish descent, etc….

Before any such labels you are a soul. An energy essence that wears bodies the way in which you currently wear an item of clothing. You are your soul expressing itself in physical form. The form may change, and even die, but the soul will continue to flourish. Do you suffer when a pair of pants wears out? You might miss a favorite item of clothing, but you will not cease to exist without it.
'You do not understand the holy and sacred nature of life or energy and that you cannot misuse it. You may think you misuse it, but you are not allowed to misuse it. You are not allowed to destroy.' - Seth
On September 11, approximately 2,800 souls effectively chose to commit suicide in a very exciting and dramatic fashion. Not one being there died by accident and in truth no one really died at all. Yes, some souls left physicality, dropping their forms into the cosmic hamper, but they are far from dead, in fact they are probably celebrating right now.

Celebrating? Incredulous as it may sound, yes, even the evil terrorist hijackers who were responsible for this attack on our lives and our freedoms? They're probably having a kick ass party right now. I imagine the immediate after death environment had all those who chose to leave gathering together and watching the destruction around them. "COOL! DUDE!" one of the victim's shouts. "That was the most fun I've had since Pompeii!" For the participants the World Trade Center disaster was the roller coaster ride of the century.

There is no crime, no punishment for this event. Should Anthony Hopkins be punished for playing the part of Hannibal Lechter? If part of you is insisting that this is different from a movie, then you are mistaking the camouflage for the reality. All the cosmic rules in the universe do not apply, except for whatever rules the hijackers believed in themselves.

Depending on what sort of beliefs the hijackers held, they may indeed choose to suffer in some way. Or they may choose to enter their version of Valhalla for a while until they decide to move on to something new. This may very well be one of the highpoints of their multiple lives.

Reincarnational connections have less to do with so called "soul families" or linear life chains than they have to do with vibrational attraction. Change your individual vibration enough and you literally become the person next to you. In that respect it's important to remember that each of us is connected to each hijacker and every victim; we are all one.

Physical reality is not a karmic school in which we must graduate from by learning certain rules and behaviors, physical reality is a role playing game. It's cops and robbers in the playground, its four dimensional Dungeons & Dragons, when the game is over, the players are not punished for choosing to play the bad guy.

The real definition of karma is communication. When information is passed on the non-physical level from one life to another, that's karma. Its most often recognized when that information is something that the person is struggling with in their current life and aligns with someone else experiencing something similar. Each individual gains something from the shared experiences that will allow him/her to overcome their particular difficulty. I realize that this is not the traditional meaning of karma, but it's the one my inner voice tells me is true.

The feelings you have about the events of September 11th, are just that: feelings. They are excellent indicators of just how much you are accepting the illusion of physical reality to be "real." For myself, it was a rocky ride to realize how deep those feelings really were, to see how when push came to shove, I teetered on listening to the physical events and my reactions to them, rather than my inner knowing.

It has often been said that a master is "in the world, but not of it" and this type of event is an excellent guidepost for those of us who choose to be masters. If you listen to your own emotional needs for punishment and responsibility or even the need for healing, without remembering that each individual involved is an equal creator, then you have become part of the drama. You have essentially forgotten that you are an actor in this play and have lost yourself completely in the role.

On the other hand if you can accept these feelings and honor them without losing the greater perspective, if you can accept your own truths, particularly when they fly in the face of external opinions. You will become stronger and clearer in your vibration, in short - a better creator. You will be more effective in creating because you will have learned to hold your tone through the most strenuous of situations.

Why Did The WTC Event Occur?

ELIAS: Good morning!

BOTH: Good morning, Elias!

ELIAS: (Chuckling) How shall we proceed?

ISABEL: Well, here I am, Elias, kind of confused and scared, and I am trying to understand everything that is happening. I'm trying to put in practice what I have learned, but it's very difficult. I was starting to create fear with myself, and I said, I'm not going to do that. I don't want anything from the outside to hurt me, and I know that I have that power inside of me.

But also, I realize that I get so confused, you know? Like what should I do? So I start asking a thousand questions, and what I do is create being scrambled. My brain is trying to get an answer, and I said to myself, I just won't think about it. I'll just give good energy, nothing else, like I want everybody to be fine. As long as I am fine, I guess I have to learn to be selfish, and not go so much to the problems of other people and the things that a lot of people are going through, and that is kind of difficult, because in a way I get angry, and I want to get rid of all that. I know I'm kind of slow to understand, Elias, but I'm trying to understand, but I keep thinking, and I start getting angry, and I say to myself, stop it.

I go around and around with this, trying to find myself. I don't want to give information to the world because I know I don't have that power, but to give information to me, to have a peace of mind. I feel lucky because I see people going through so much trauma that is kind of ... how should I say this? It's the same with everybody, I guess. You see people suffering, and there's nothing you can do. Do you know what I mean?

ELIAS: Let me inquire of you, Larkshire, what are you expressing to yourself in the 'shoulds,' and what answers are you seeking?

ISABEL: There's all the people on the east coast that are going through so much trauma, and I feel their pain, and when I saw what was happening ... because I was watching TV when I saw the building, and I saw the other plane, the second plane, blast the other tower, and in that particular moment, I got so angry, you know? Why are they doing this to these people? I mean, there were 35,000 people inside the building, between the two towers.

It's an angry feeling, and then comes the sorrow, and then I wanted to understand that these people made an agreement to be there and to have that experience, and their families choose to be their families and to have this experience. But it's so hard to accept that because we're talking about belief systems, like if you die because you get sick or you have an accident or if you get old and you die, we accept that. But when people die at the hands of another human being, it's very difficult to accept that. (Pause) Did I make myself clear?

ELIAS: Yes. Therefore, your question that you are presenting to yourself and attempting to answer is, why has this occurred, correct?

ISABEL: Right, Elias.

ELIAS: Why shall individuals create this type of action?

ISABEL: Yes!

ELIAS: Very well. Let us address to these questions.

Now; you are seeking answers to questions concerning choices of other individuals, for you perceive the choices of other individuals to be greatly affecting of you, which in a manner of speaking they are, for you ARE greatly affected.

But let us view this situation from a different direction - the direction of self. For in alignment with all of the information that I have offered to you previously, recognize that every aspect of this event that you have viewed, that you have experienced, that you have watched, that you have perceived - every aspect, you have created.

Now; without judgment, allow yourself momentarily to listen to what I am expressing.

Therefore, you have participated in this event. You have created each aircraft. You have created all of the individuals. You have created all of the actions that have occurred in this event, and you have created all of the individuals of families, of victims, of rescuers. You have created an immense scenario of drama, which has all been projected in an actual physical manifestation through your perception.

Your participation ... and the reason that I incorporate the term of participation is that you have not singularly created this event, for all of the individuals throughout your globe have also created this event. In every area, in every country, throughout the entirety of your world, you have all collectively created this event. Your participations vary as gauged by your manifestations of this event, which are created by your individual perceptions, but you have all participated.

Now; in this participation, recognizing that each of you is creating all that you individually view, you may allow yourselves to turn your attention to yourselves and evaluate the degree, the distinction, of your choice of participation.

As an example, you, Larkshire, have allowed yourself an extensive participation through the creation of your perception, and a tremendous affectingness and much incorporation of emotional communication.

An individual within the physical location of central Africa is also participating, but their objective projection of imagery and creation may be much more limited. This is not to say that they are not participating, for they are, but their participation is more limited.

Another individual within the physical location of London is participating in what may be identified as equal measure to yourself, and offering themselves much emotional communication also.

Another individual within the physical location of this city in which the event has occurred is participating in objective imagery and emotional communication more extremely than yourself.

Another individual within a European country is participating in a different type of perception, and creating and participating in this expression and event in offering themselves an affectingness, but not in an emotional communication expressing concern, sorrow, or anger, but that of freedom and choices and acceptance.

Now; your question is, why has this occurred? Why have individuals expressed these choices? If you are choosing to incorporate the question of why, pose the question of why to yourself. Why have you individually chosen to create this entire scenario, in like manner to every other individual upon your planet?

In posing this question of why to yourself, also incorporate the question to yourself of WHAT you have created; not the what of the physical imagery, for this is obviously expressed, is it not? It is obvious that you have created individuals to be turning aircrafts and to be colliding these crafts into structures and collapsing them.

Now; this is the key, Larkshire. Remember, as I have expressed to you many times, objective imagery is abstract. Therefore, although quite real, in a manner of speaking, the objective abstract imagery may be recognized as a symbolic expression of what you individually are actually creating inwardly. In viewing the actual expressions of imagery, the abstract symbology that you have created, let us examine the movement, that you may offer to yourself a clearer understanding and answers to these questions.

You have created your individual imagery of aircrafts, immense vehicles incorporating movement. As I am expressing this to you, allow yourself to associate the symbology in relation to yourself - an immense vehicle incorporating movement.

Subsequently, these crafts are directed to be colliding with tremendous force and power into great structures, immense structures of steel and concrete, tremendous fortresses constructed to withstand tremendous impact, but you have collided into them crafts also of tremendous power, with tremendous quantity of fuel. In the impact of your collision, you generate an immense vibration that shakes the very foundation of these immense structures, to the point of crumbling and almost disintegration.

This is the objective imagery, the abstract, and contained within these tremendous structures are thousands of individuals, thousands of positions, thousands of expressions.

You also choose to be striking at a particular core structure which signifies a particular establishment or what you may term to be the 'nerve center' of your societal structure, a base of your mass beliefs - financial. But you continue in your imagery, and you move to the collision of another immense structure. You impact that structure with another craft, and in this, there are more hundreds of expressions contained within it, and what you impact is another tremendous fortress expressed in objective imagery of protection.

What you have created in this movement and action is an immense expression of energy in association with this shift in consciousness. You have struck at the core of the immense structures of officially accepted beliefs - of need and of protection, of sustaining what you perceive to be life itself, in what you deem to be the most valuable and important expressions of finance, currency, and exchange, and in what you view to be necessary within your physical existence - the immense structure of protection. You have crumbled them. You have not eliminated them, but you have laid them open to allow yourself to redefine, to examine what holds importance and value within your expressions and your creations in this physical dimension and what has been elevated to hold tremendous value, which in actuality is insignificant.

I have expressed to you all that within the action of this shift, you are redefining all of your reality. I have expressed to you all that within the accomplishment of this shift in consciousness, you shall redefine your expressions of currency and finance and exchange. I have expressed to you all, you create all of your reality, in every moment, in every aspect.

There is no need for protection, for no essence is intrusive. Therefore, no action may be expressed in attack upon you that you do not create yourself. Therefore, what shall you protect yourself from but yourself? And even this is unnecessary, for you may not destroy yourself. You are consciousness. You are essence. You move, and you are not destroyed.

In this, you have created also a tremendous expression of objective imagery to allow yourself the genuine examination of these beliefs - expressions of victim, expressions of perpetrator - and to allow yourself to redefine your associations.

Who are the victims? Who are the perpetrators? If you are creating every aspect of all that you perceive, you are the perpetrator and you are the victim simultaneously. But you exist, and you are unharmed, and the individuals that you perceive to be disengaged exist, and they are unharmed. They have merely moved their attention in a different direction.

This offers you the opportunity to examine your definitions and your automatic associations with very strongly held expressions and beliefs concerning victims, concerning perpetrators, concerning control, concerning whether you create all of your reality or whether another individual holds the power to create an aspect of your reality and control you, whether you shall be the victim or whether you shall be the perpetrator or merely an observer, or that you are all of these.

In this also, you offer yourself the opportunity to examine automatic responses and to pay attention to emotional communications.

Why have you created this scenario? For your desire to be inserting this shift in consciousness into your objective reality is tremendous.

Why have you chosen to be creating this type of objective imagery and event? For you concentrate your attention in the direction of your beliefs, and you offer great energy to expectations in association with those beliefs.

What are the expectations? That you shall generate trauma in association with this shift in consciousness.

What is the expression of trauma? A tremendous event, but certainly not the individual trauma that you experience in association with your movement into acceptance of your individual beliefs, for you view this not necessarily to be an expression of trauma. It is not extreme enough, but this type of objective physical imagery IS viewed as extreme, and this shall be recognized as a genuine expression of trauma. Therefore, it is justified.

You also incorporate the allowance to now be examining that expression of justification in many expressions - the justification of victim, the justification of blame, the justification of emotional expressions NOT being viewed as communications, but rather as familiarly defined as reaction, the justification to hold to all that you view as familiar - the protection, the fear, the uncertainty.

All of the beliefs that are being expressed in association with this imagery are being held to in justification, for you stand at the threshold, as I have stated, of individual acceptance, and the choice of whether you shall move and step into the unfamiliar and create this shift in consciousness, or whether you shall hold to the familiar.

But as I have stated, my dear friends, be encouraged! For although you have chosen to be creating tremendous drama in this abstract objective imagery, you have also offered yourselves the point, and you have allowed yourselves an objective realization of how very great your desire is to be inserting this shift in consciousness into your objective reality throughout your globe.

This is the WHY, my friend.

When you are discussing the nature of good and bad, you are on tricky ground indeed, for many -- or most -- of man's atrocities to man have been committed in misguided pursuit of "the good."

Whose good? Is "good" an absolute? In your arena of events, obviously, one man's good can be another's disaster. Hitler pursued his version of "the good" with undeviating fanatical intent.
Session 830:
Even those of you who intellectually agree that you form your own reality find it difficult to accept emotionally in certain areas. You are of course, literally hypnotized into believing that your feelings arise in response to events. Your feelings, however, cause the events you perceive. Secondarily, you do of course then react to those events.
Session 835:
There is an enchanting suggestion, solemnly repeated many times, particularly after the turn of the century: "Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better."

This might sound like a bit of overly optimistic, though maybe delightful, nonsense. To a degree, however, that suggestion worked for millions of people. It was not a cure-all. It did not help those who believed in the basic untrustworthiness of their own natures. The suggestion was far from a bit of fluff, however, for it could serve -- and it did -- as a framework about which new beliefs could rally.

We often have in your society the opposite suggestions, however given quite regularly: "Every day in every way, I am growing worse , and so is the world." You have meditations for disaster, beliefs that invite private and mass tragedies. They are usually masked by the polite clothing of conventional acceptance.(Pause) Many thousands may die in a particular battle or war, for example. The deaths are accepted almost as a matter of course. These are victims of war, without question. It seldom occurs to anyone that these are victims of beliefs (emphatically) -- since the guns are quite real, and the bombs and the combat... Man is of good intent. When you see evil everywhere in man's intent -- in your own actions and those of others -- then you set yourself up against your own existence, and that of your kind. You focus upon the gulf between your ideals and your experience, until the gulf is all that is real. You will not see man's good intent, or you will do so ironically -- for in comparison with your ideals, good in the world appears to be so minute as to be a mockery.
Session 850
If you want to change the world for the better, then you are an idealist. If you want to change the world for the better, but you believe it cannot be changed one whit, then you are a pessimist, and your idealism will only haunt you. If you want to change the world for the better, but you believe that it will grow worse, despite everyone's efforts, then you are a truly despondent, perhaps misguided idealist. If you want to change the world for the better and if you are determined to do so, no matter at what cost to yourself or others, no matter what the risk, and if you believe that those ends justify any means at your disposal, then you are a fanatic.

Fanatics are inverted idealists. Usually they are vague grandiose dreamers whose plans almost completely ignore the full dimensions of normal living. They are unfulfilled idealists who are not content to express idealism in steps, one at a time, or indeed to wait for the practical workings of active expression. They demand immediate action They want to make the world over in their own images(louder). They cannot bear the expression of tolerance or opposing ideas. They are the most self righteous of the self-righteous, and they will sacrifice almost anything -- their own lives or the lives of others. They will justify almost any crime for the pursuit of those ends.
Session 868:

You will often condone quite reprehensible acts if you think they were committed for the sake of a greater good. You have a tendency to look for outright evil, to think in terms of "the powers of good and evil," and I am quite sure that many of my readers are convinced of evil's force. Evil does not exist in those terms, and that is why so many seemingly idealistic people can be partners in quite reprehensible actions, while telling themselves that such acts are justified since they are methods toward a good end...

Examine the literature that you read, the television programs that you watch, and tell yourself to ignore those indications given of the body's weaknesses. Tell yourself to ignore literature or programs that speak authoritatively about the species' "killer instincts." Make an effort to free your intellect of such hampering beliefs.
Session 873:
In a manner of speaking, you must be a practicing idealist if you are to remain a true idealist for long. You must take small practical steps, often when you would prefer to take giant ones -- but you must move in the direction of your ideals through action. Otherwise you will feel disillusioned, or powerless, or sure, again, that only drastic, highly unideal methods will ever bring about the achievement of a given ideal state or situation.



Death In Vegas: Part 4

Jerry and Wanda take off at a tremendous speed, pulling a wheely for about a hundred feet.

JERRY Ahhhhhhh!

Gina follows in the car.

Mr. Prickly rests on the floor of the backseat.

INT. MOTEL OFFICE - NIGHT

Jerry and Wanda stand in the office of a motel. The MANAGER stands behind a counter.

MANAGER How many rooms?

Jerry looks at Wanda.

JERRY Three?

WANDA No. I want to stay with you. In case he comes back.

MANAGER Two?

JERRY Two.

The Manager hands Jerry the KEYS and gives him a sly smile.

EXT. PARKING LOT - NIGHT

Sal is still passed out in the back of the car. Gina dotes on him in the backseat.

GINA What if he's really hurt? Maybe we should take him to a hospital.

JERRY Sal hates hospitals. He'd kill us if he woke up there.

GINA But what if he doesn't wake up?

Jerry walks over to the ICE MACHINE. He gets a BUCKET of ice and walks over to the car. He takes a handful of ice and unbuttons Sal's pants.

WANDA What are you doing?

JERRY He's done this to me a thousand times.

Jerry shoves the ice cubes down Sal's pants, and Sal jerks up. He looks down and quickly removes the ice from his pants.

SAL What the hell happened?

Jerry goes to enter the motel room with his key.

WANDA What about Mr. Prickly?

JERRY Oh, yeah.

Jerry goes back to the car, grabs Mr. Prickly, and enters the motel room with Wanda in tow.

GINA You're not going to believe it.

INT. JERRY AND WANDA'S MOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

Jerry and Wanda enter the room to find one double BED. Jerry stares at the one bed.

WANDA Wanna watch TV?

JERRY Sure. Oh, anything but the news.

Wanda picks up the REMOTE CONTROL and turns it on. She sits on the bed.

JERRY You know, I could sleep on the floor.

WANDA Don't be silly.

She pats the bed. Jerry sits down on it. He smiles uncomfortably.

WANDA You know what would be fun?

JERRY Yes. But you should know-

WANDA Beer!

JERRY Beer?

WANDA What were you gonna say?

JERRY Beer.

Jerry hops up from the bed.

JERRY I'll go get some.

He grabs Mr. Prickly and exits the motel room.

EXT. MOTEL PARKING LOT - NIGHT

Jerry walks with purpose towards a gas station with a mini-mart. He holds Mr. Prickly in his hands.

JERRY Yes, Mr. Prickly, I do think she likes me. Is that so hard to believe? No, I'm not trying to get her drunk. She asked for beer, and I'm doing the gentlemanly thing by getting it for her. You can be such a prude, Mr. Prickly.

Jerry enters the gas station's mini-mart.

INT. MINI-MART - NIGHT

Sal looks through the liquor section and grabs a BOTTLE of Jack Daniel's. Jerry enters the aisle.

SAL Hey.

JERRY Hi.

SAL So, I hear you're a bruiser now.

JERRY Well-

SAL I wouldn't have wanted anything to happen to Gina, so thanks.

JERRY When I saw him punch you I, something inside me just snapped.

SAL Still takin' that cactus wherever you go?

JERRY I-, he-

SAL It's just that Wanda might not think-, ya know.

JERRY Yeah. I do.

Jerry grabs a SIX-PACK of beer.

SAL Just-, don't worry. I'm sure you'll do fine. She'll help. You know, with-

JERRY Wha-, oh. Yeah.

Jerry blushes.

SAL If you guys wanna come over later for a drink-

JERRY Yeah. Thanks.

Jerry and Sal head to the counter, and Sal puts his arm on Jerry's shoulder.

EXT. MOTEL - NIGHT

Jerry struts up to the door with the beer, some FOOD, and FLOWERS. He looks at Mr. Prickly and takes a deep breath.

JERRY Here we go.

Jerry enters the room.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

Jerry enters to find Wanda in full showgirl costume, and it reveals more than it conceals.

WANDA Showgirls is on Cinemax! I just-, I always have to get into costume when I watch this movie.

JERRY Oh, no problem.

Jerry puts Mr. Prickly, the food, and the beer down. He hands Wanda the flowers.

WANDA Jerry! How nice.

JERRY I-, I thought they might, ya know, make the room a bit nicer.

Wanda gets up and fills the ice bucket with water. Jerry stares at her ass, as the thong she's wearing doesn't cover much of it up.

Wanda places the flowers in the ice bucket and cracks a beer open.

WANDA Wanna see me dance?

JERRY (in a high-pitched voice) Yes.

Wanda takes a sip of beer and puts it down. Jerry drinks his beer quickly and makes a "shot face."

Wanda dances around the motel room. Jerry watches her as if he were a little kid seeing Santa Claus come down the chimney. She finishes her routine and curtsies.

JERRY Wow. That was-

WANDA Be nice.

JERRY No, it was amazing. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

WANDA Flattery will get you everywhere!

Wanda sits next to him on the bed and drinks her beer.

JERRY So, can I ask you something?

WANDA Yes.

JERRY Do you think it's-, I mean, Mr. Prickly and I-, do you think it's weird?

Wanda reaches under the covers of the bed and reveals a TEDDY BEAR. It's very old.

WANDA I've had Mr. Cuddly since I was two. I never go anywhere without him.

JERRY Hi, Mr. Cuddly.

WANDA Do you want to hold him?

JERRY Sure.

She hands Jerry the Teddy Bear.

JERRY It's nice to meet you, Mr. Cuddly. I'm Jerry, and this, this is Mr. Prickly. I know he looks tough and everything, but he's a real sweetheart on the inside.

Jerry puts Mr. Cuddly next to Mr. Prickly on the table. He turns back to Wanda, and she takes her headdress off. She stands up and removes the rest of her costume. Jerry drinks faster as he watches her with bugged out eyes.

WANDA I don't think I'll be sleeping with Mr. Cuddly tonight.

Jerry stands, revealing a huge bulge in his pants where he obviously has an erection. He struggles to walk towards her with it. He reaches Wanda, and they kiss.

EXT. MOTEL - DAY

Jerry struts out of the motel room and looks very pleased with himself as he makes his way to the mini-mart. He smiles and waves to complete STRANGERS.

JERRY Morning. Beautiful day, isn't it?

The Strangers just nod.

JERRY Great day to be alive.

INT. AIRPLANE'S CABIN - DAY

Doctor Shockley sits in his seat on the airplane. He reads a copy of "I'm OK - You're OK."

A couple of rows behind the good doctor sit Louie and Mitch. Next to Mitch sits an ELDERLY WOMAN.

ELDERLY WOMAN Oh, I just love Las Vegas. Don't you? I'm going to see Wayne Newton. They say it costs a hundred and thirty-eight dollars to sit in the front row, but I think it's worth it. Did I show you pictures of my grandchildren yet? Oh, you just have to see them.

She pulls out her WALLET, and Mitch looks like he's going to erupt.

Louie wears HEADPHONES, has a MASK over his eyes, and sips a COCKTAIL. He peeks from under his mask to see Mitch staring blankly at the PICTURES. Louie smiles to himself.

The sun beats in through the window, and Louie shuts the little window shutter.

EXT. GRASSY AREA - DAY

Jerry sits on a grassy patch in between the gas station and the motel. He watches the sun come up as he drinks a CUP of coffee, smokes a CIGARETTE, and eats a TWINKIE. Mr. Prickly sits on the grass next to him.

Wanda joins them.

WANDA Good morning.

JERRY Hi. I didn't want to wake you. You looked so peaceful.

WANDA I'm just happy I found you.

She puts her head on his shoulder.

WANDA You smoke?

JERRY No. Not really. But my ma did when I was growing up, when she had me in her womb, and probably while she conceived me. I've always liked the smell but never dared try one.

WANDA Can I have one?

JERRY Sure.

Jerry hands her the PACK. She takes one out, and he lights it for her.

JERRY Do you want some coffee or something?

WANDA I'll have a sip of yours.

Jerry hands her the cup.

JERRY I've never had it before. Never had one of these either.

He holds up the Twinkie.

WANDA Wow. Never had coffee, Twinkies, or cigarettes.

JERRY There's a lot of things I'd never done before I met you.

WANDA Oh yeah. What else?

JERRY Well, since I met you, I've gotten into a fight, driven a motorcycle, made lo-

Jerry catches himself.

WANDA That was your-, wow.

Wanda smiles.

WANDA You did great.

They kiss.

Sal walks over to them.

SAL Come on, you two. We're hittin' the road.

EXT. MOTEL PARKING LOT - DAY

Jerry and Wanda walk over to the motorcycle. Sal and Gina get in the car.

SAL You sure you don't wanna ride with us?

JERRY Have you ever ridden one of these things? It's incredible! I think it cured my asthma!

Jerry uses DUCT TAPE to mount Mr. Pricky on the front of the bike. Jerry somehow made a little HELMET and GOGGLES for the cactus, and Mr. Prickly dons them with style.

Jerry and Wanda get on the bike. Jerry starts the engine and they drive off, followed by Sal and Gina.

Wanda leans forward and shouts into Jerry's ear.

WANDA So what's next?

JERRY What do you mean?

WANDA What's the next thing you're gonna do for the first time?

JERRY I don't know.

EXT. ROADSIDE DINER - DAY

Jerry and Wanda ride into the parking lot, followed by Sal and Gina. Jerry and Wanda park and get off the bike. Jerry takes Mr. Prickly off the bike.

Sal parks and gets out of the car.

SAL What're you doin'?

JERRY Stopping for lunch.

SAL We've only been on the road for five hours. Can't you just grab some jerky when we stop for gas?

JERRY These are my last days on earth, and I want to enjoy them.

SAL If you're gonna keep playin' the death card-

GINA Come on. Let's have lunch.

Gina takes Sal by the arm, and they walk towards the diner.

INT. DINER - DAY

There's a Western theme to the diner, and most of the MEN in the place are wearing cowboy HATS, BOOTS, and BELT BUCKLES. So do the women.

Jerry, Wanda, Sal, and Gina enter.

SAL Oh, Jesus.

JERRY Wow! This place is awesome.

Jerry takes it all in and notices a MECHANICAL BULL. He looks at it longingly.

SAL Don't even think about it. We're gettin' somethin' to eat, and then we're outta here.

Jerry sits at the counter and places Mr. Prickly on it. The rest of his party joins him.

TERESA, 45 and pure country, stands behind the counter.

TERESA How y'all doin'?

JERRY We're great.

TERESA Should I bring another menu for your little friend, sug?

She motions towards Mr. Prickly.

JERRY He'll just have a little water.

TERESA Oh, I like you.

JERRY I like you too!

TERESA So, what'll you have?

JERRY I'll have a burger, fries, and a chocolate shake.

SAL Same.

GINA Do you have grilled cheese?

TERESA Best damn grilled cheese this side a the Mississip.

GINA Great. I'll have that, along with a Diet Coke.

WANDA Just an iced tea for me.

JERRY Aren't you hungry?

WANDA I've got to watch my figure.

BILL (O.S.) I'll take care a that fer ya.

They look over their shoulders to see BILL and GUS, two cowboys in their 30's, standing right behind them.

JERRY Wow. Real cowboys. I'm Jerry.

GUS Who cares.

Gus sidles up behind Gina.

GUS How 'bout a dance, little lady?

He gets right up in her face.

GINA How 'bout you get lost, ass breath.

GUS She got some spunk in her.

BILL We like it when they fight a little.

Sal rises from his seat and gets right in Gus's face.

GUS Yer not so pretty. I'd rather dance with the lady, city boy.

SAL First I'm gonna wipe it down with your fuckin' face.

Jerry jumps out of his seat.

JERRY Wait! Wait. I have an idea. We could settle this like schoolboys with fists and kicking, and the scratching and the biting, or we could settle it like men. Jerry looks at the mechanical bull.

BILL You must be outer yer mind.

JERRY Well, I do have a brain tumor.

Bill and Gus LAUGH.

JERRY (CONT'D) If I can stay on longer, we get to have our lunches in peace. And if you win, you can have one dance with each of them.

BILL I'll take that bet.

He spits some chaw into a BUCKET and walks towards the bull. He mounts it and looks at WILLIE, the bull's operator. Bill nods, and Willie presses a button.

The bull bucks and moves in circles, and Bill rides it like a champion. He takes his hat off and slaps it against the side of the bull.

BILL Yeeeee-haaaaaawwwww.

Willie turns up the speed, and Bill rides for a little longer before getting thrown from the bull. He gets up and triumphantly raises his arms. The rest of the cowboys and cowgirls in the diner CHEER.

Jerry takes Mr. Prickly with him as he walks towards the bull. He looks at Willie.

JERRY How long?

WILLIE Thirty-five seconds.

Jerry mounts the bull and places a little COWBOY HAT he fashioned out of a napkin on Mr. Prickly's "head." He whispers to his cactus-friend.

JERRY Don't be nervous. You can do this.

He nods to Willie, who starts the bull.

The bull bucks and circles, and Jerry holds on with one hand as he clutches Mr. Prickly with the other.

JERRY Oh my God! This is so much fun!

Willie cranks up the speed, and Jerry flails wildly on the bull, laughing. Willie cranks it up even faster.

JERRY Wooooooo!

Willie turns the speed up even higher, and Jerry is tossed from the bull. He goes flying through the air and crashes through a window. Everyone gasps. Jerry pops up from the ground and smiles, clutching Mr. Prickly.

The entire diner ROARS in approval.

EXT. DINER PARKING LOT - DAY

Jerry, Wanda, and Mr. Prickly ride off on the motorcycle with all the patrons from the diner there to send them off. Sal and Gina follow in the convertible.

As Jerry, Wanda, and Mr. Pricklly roar off into the sunset, Mitch and Louie are racing towards Las Vegas to give Sal a manicure he'll never forget. And what of Rick? Will he find a way to catch up to Jerry and Wanda? Tune in next month for the next installment of; Death In Vegas

Bay Area Seth Group 2005-06 Season!

After a lovely but too-short summer we are ready to ramp up again for even more lively gatherings of the Bay Area Seth Group. We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month from 3-6pm in the Excelsior District of San Francisco (we take off December and June-August). The next gathering is Saturday, September 10th. This year we are going to be even more experiential and will be using the Practice Elements from The Unknown Reality as a jumping off point. We also plan to do some explorations into group dreams. Of course, we are SPONTANEOUS beings and often don't follow our plans at all, so anything can happen!

As Seth readers we are aware that our beliefs, thoughts and expectations create our individual and mass reality seed our world/planet. We know this yet many of us wonder why we continue to be faced with events that are not pleasing to us, events that appear to lack value fulfillment for so many, and we wonder why this is so. Does this happen because we allow our focus and attention, our fine sense of discrimination to be drawn away from our inbuilt propensity to form ?dazzling mental and psychological creations i.e. our civilization its arts and sciences.

During our 'Seth Applied' weekend we aim to re-establish a 'feel' for those in-born leanings through stimulating discussion centered on the significance of Dreams, Framework 2, (inner reality), use of the Imagination, Focus and Expectation. We will also visit a display of the Jane Roberts papers housed in Sterling Memorial Library at Yale. And best of all we will take time to playfully and rambunctiously ?daydream? (envision) a society more in line with an evolving consciousness intent on value fulfillment for all. And better still during our weekend we will apply Seth?'s suggestion to 'act as if' all this has taken place, as we concentrate on what we want. So join us bringing not only your ideas of what areas of a society/civilization you feel disposed towards transforming, but most importantly your good intent, your sense humor, and ready to share your personal experiences and successes through use of the Seth material.

The world is changed in imagination. It is changed in dreams. It is changed in inner creativity and through your dreams, and then it is created physically.
